Is this a perfect pistol? Possibly the most enjoyable firearm I've ever owned: my recently-acquired SIG Sauer P320 Compact Nitron 9mm. I cannot imagine a more simple and lightweight tool. Perfect crisp light 2-stage trigger practically locks on target. High-vis sights. So ergonomic it fits my hand like a glove, an extension of my own arm. Just effortless to pick up and use and maintain. Aesthetically, it's a work of art. Now I'm ready for everybody to facepalm at my flawed grip and one-eye aiming technique, since this vid is literally the first time I ever handled a semi-auto pistol, sorry folks, I'm already improving: The model I used in this video was manufactured in 2024 in New Hampshire, with the post-2017 FCU. This gun is a keeper. Forever. Is there another pistol I should own alongside this, SIG Sauer or otherwise, and why? ____________________________________ My SIG: P320 Nitron Compact Other stuff: guns and equipment I use

Welcome to the forum. I couldn't help bu notice that even though your video was published only eleven days ago, it doesn't appear in the list of videos for your YouTube Channel Not a big deal, just curious. We have to give your channel some exposure, what with you being a new SIG owner and all. Thanks for posting it. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

Thanks, the video visibility is set to unlisted, so it's only visible where I share it. I'm not sure yet whether all the folks who look at my humble channel share my appreciation for handguns. ![]() ____________________________________ My SIG: P320 Nitron Compact Other stuff: guns and equipment I use

Your advice is appreciated, and you're not the first to say this. To help me understand this better, I'd be interested to hear why eye protection is considered important, and also I'm open to suggestions on unobtrusive eye protection gear? ____________________________________ My SIG: P320 Nitron Compact Other stuff: guns and equipment I use

It's the same reason you wear eye protection for any dynamic activity. In the case of shooting a firearm, your gun may experience a catastrophic failure and send shrapnel flying in all directions, including at your face. How important is eye protection when shooting: your stories In that thread, I related this story:

Since this is your first time ever shooting a semi-auto pistol, it doesn’t hurt to expand your experience a little with the old timer SIG, aka the all metal hammer fired DA/SA P-series gun, like the P220/P225/P226/P228/P229. Q

Good point! I'll be using eye protection from now on, so I might owe you one. ____________________________________ My SIG: P320 Nitron Compact Other stuff: guns and equipment I use

Nice P320! I took a piece of bullet jacket to the scalp a few years ago that ricocheted back off of a piece of steel. There was quite a lot of blood, and there was metal embedded in my scalp for over a month until I finally had my wife take care of it with a pair of pliers (my fault...I probably should have gone to the doc). If that had hit me a couple of inches lower it would have bounced off my glasses, and had I not been wearing those I'd now be blind in that eye. You don't have to be shooting steel targets for that to happen, either. Rocks in a dirt backstop, old bits on concrete, other debris...stuff happens. Spend enough time on the range and something will eventually come back at you. Obviously, your eyes your choice, but I won't shoot without eye pro.

Thanks, I did consider these classic Ps. The P228 is iconic as a child of the 80s-90s. (I did also consider revolvers.) I researched extensively and searched my soul before settling on SIG, semi-auto, and the P320. Which one, and why, if I had to pick one model? ____________________________________ My SIG: P320 Nitron Compact Other stuff: guns and equipment I use

Make sure your choice of eyewear conforms to ANSI Z87.1 . ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

Because you already are invested in 9mm, I would go for a full size P226. My personal choice. As for eye protection, you could probably start a thread resulting w/ stories about near misses because of protective eye wear, personally experienced or witnessed among those who shoot regularly, or do basic yard work, among other things.

If I'm not mistaken, most all regular eye glasses now conform to this but they also lack in wrap around side protection. I had someone in the stall next to me shooting .22 bullseye and he got some back splash that hit just to the right of his eye because of the typical bullseye shooter stance. *Edit: I looked it up and apparently I'm mistaken. Regular eye glasses may not conform to the ANSI Z87.1 safety standard.

It's all good. If folks can't find your video in your YouTube playlist, they are sure to see where you posted it on Facebook, "X", Instagram and your website. Eye protection is extremely important. I can't tell you the number of times I've had lead splatter back in my face shooting steel targets. A friend of mine was watching me shoot some steel targets and a piece of lead bounced back and hit him in the eye 25 yards away. He was lucky. Fragments bouncing back from bullets hitting steel or other hard materials is the most common danger that mandates wearing safety glasses, but not always. I still remember the time my face was peppered with small particles (probably mostly unburned powder) from an apparently defective handgun cartridge. My glasses kept it from being anything more than a startling incident. ► 6.0/94.0 To operate serious weapons in a serious manner.

Yep. I had a 9mm case rupture in a Glock 17. It blew the magazine and extractor out of the pistol and peppered my face with unburned powder and tiny brass fragments. The culprit turned out to be a piece of A-Merc brass. A-Merc was notorious garbage. I religiously culled out any piece of A-Merc I could find before reloading going forward. Safety glasses saved my eyesight. Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." -- George Orwell

Welcome and you're in for some trouble here, well, at least your wallet is. Sigs just seem to accumulate once you shoot them. I keep telling myself I have enough but that "one more" always seems to find me.
