Kind of think I got the "wrong" P365 "kit" Login/Join

This will be my first Sig. I also have Walther P99, MP9c and some .22 handguns (Ruger Sr22, Walther p22).

Loved the idea of the P365 being able to take 10 rounds in factory mag and also 12 and 15 round options (the 12 round with pinky rest is a very attractive proposition).

I am in Commifornia, so I can't get a P365 unless I have one "gifted" to me. So when my parents in Texas started to inquire what fathers day "gift" ideas I could give them, this was an obvious answer.

So on to my dilemma. They live near a Cabellas in Texas, so I had them get me the 2 tone kit for $449. I think they only had the SAS version and XL version in stock, no black or any other kits.

I like the 2 tone, and looking at the Cabellas website, it appears pretty vague as to the details of the kit. I looked at the sig website multiple times to get more info, but the 2 tone isn't even on there. I think the 2 tone is a Cabellas and Bass Pro exclusive?

Of the 15 or so youtube reviews I have watched, they all talk about the gun coming with 2 mags and also the night sights (X-ray3?).

Anyway, finally had the item sent to my FFL. I just went to finish the paperwork. I got to handle the gun and check it out. Sure enough, only comes with 1 mag and no night sights. (I do notice that Cabellas seems to maybe have added that the kit includes "white 3 dot sights, but I swear, I didn't see that a few weeks ago when going through this process).

At any rate, the $449 price looks pretty decent until you add $50 for another mag (they aren't cheap) and another $100 for the X-ray3 sights.

I guess I should feel lucky to be able to even get one of these, being that I am in California, but seems a little odd that Cabelas website was so vague and the price really isn't the "bargain" one would think. Normally I am very good about any purchase I make, but this one is a bit unique given the circumstances.

So just as a warning, if you are looking at the cabellas kit, beware that it does NOT include night sights or 2 magazines. It's "just money" but if you care about those things at all, you might need to look into another p365 offering.

Welcome to SigForum!!!

Sorry to hear about the lack of mag & night sights, I'm sure you can find a buyer on CalGuns for this one and get what you really want on your next bDay, Hanukkah, or Christmas?

On CalGuns, P365 prices are selling for over $1,000 up to $1,500 for an XL with Romeo Zero.

I thought all 365s came with night sights standard. Unless it is some kind of special Cabelas only model.

I don't know if the OP's is the exact same bundle and SKU, but around Thanksgiving last year, guys were getting excited over this Cabela's Black Friday doorbuster deal. It was $399.97 for two-tone P365 w/ contrast sights and one mag. Yes, it is/was a Cabela's/Bass Pro exclusive.

I suspect 997.1S got the Cabela's exclusive bundle, and that $449 is its regular price. Even at $399, X-ray3 sights and a second mag are worth another $100 IMO.

It’s still not a bad deal. The X ray sights are only decent in my opinion. I’ll replace mine in the future, if you can hold out for a while I’ll put them in the mail and send them your way.

Going to need to need to see some pics of that 997 however.

Awesome, I'll hold tight. If you guys aren't familiar with Calif laws, I have to wait 10 days as they do a background check, and then they "release" it to me. He says it is actually taking up to 18 days. Then ill post some pics. Thanks!!!

I am 99% sure that this is the same "kit". Christmas time is when I first saw the deal, and was going to have my father in law do the "gift" to my wife, but ended up having severe health issues and so Xmas time ended up being filled with Dr appointments and moving into assisted living rather than thinking of cool toys for myself (he ended up passing a couple weeks ago, former LA county fireman and awesome guy!!)

I think the sites are around $100 (from sig) and the mag is another $50. which makes a $450 kit actually $600 really quickly.

So all you need to do to get an off list gun is have it gifted to you? That seems EASY.

Awesome.

In the US we don't say "kit". A kit is something you buy and put together yourself. Enthusiasts have "gear" and are referred to as "gearheads". We might excuse this if you are from the UK or taught English by a UK person.

I got the same one because it was on sale for $380. After Club points & a military discount it was $184 out the door so I didn’t mind only getting one mag. I also knew I’d want different sights (probably Trijicon HDs) eventually anyway so the standard sights are fine for now. I like the slide’s finish. It’s getting wear marks that kind of make it look like my Sebenza. Hopefully you enjoy it. Mine has been great and is now my most carried CCW.

I picked up the same P365 model. Not a great deal given the sights / one magazine.

Use it as an upgrade opportunity. Maybe not in CA, but where greater than 10-round magazines are permitted, another 10-round magazine was not a value to me. I'd rather spend the money on a 12-round.

With respect to sights, the newest Truglo TRX PRO sight set looks like a better option than the SIG night sights.

LOL, isn't Sig a German company? If your american, think of it like a "package" or something like that. I am used to "kits" Porsche 911 "aerokit" or "X51 Power kit", the list goes on. Wink

Its the one saving grace. I think it is a situation where it is really hard for the state to say, for example, you can't inherit a family item (gun in this case). I think you can only get 5 "gifts" a year, but now that we figured out the process and how easy it really is, I doubt I will be buying guns in calif any longer, I'll just use all my "gifts" from parents for all major holidays and birthdays be handguns for now on.

Last time I checked CA law, the non-roster handgun gift is strictly between parent and child or between grandparent and grandchild only.

Non-roster handgun gifts from a sibling, cousin, aunt, uncle, or friend is not permitted.

There are two SKUs for two-tone:

-The Cabela's and Bass Pro one that has fixed sights (unknown how many mags)
-An RSR Group exclusive that has night sights and two mags.

It was.. Adding night sights if you really want them is not a big deal. I've replaced a few of the front sights with the Ameriglo big dot version. With my eyesight they help somewhat.
