KJLOlder Model Sig P229
Hello- I was looking for some information regarding my older model Sig. when purchased I installed some Tru Dot tridium sights on it that have now worn out. I have read the there may be some
Variations between older and newer model sig P229s and newer sights may not fit. My Sig is approx 1994 production. Can anyone shed some light on this or recommend tridium sights that will fit?
Thanks!

MacGyverJust out of curiosity, can you provide a link where you read this?
To the best of my knowledge, the standard P229 has always had the same exact sights.
You only have to keep track of the different sight height combos (#6 front sight for .40-S&W, #8 front sight for 9mm/.357-SIG, #8 rear sight for all models), and whoever you buy the sights from (Trijicon, Meprolight, etc.) should already be making that distinction anyway.

KJLIt is the 40 cal. I did purchase the 357 drop on barrel for it. I don’t recall a specific
Place I saw this. I do believe it did have to do with height of the sights.

rock185Within my humble experience, it is as MacGyver said. I've had earlier and later P229s, 226s, 220s, etc. They sometimes have different numbers/heights, but all fit whichever traditional SIG one might want to install them on...

4MUL8RSight numbers are best selected based off caliber.

SIGguy229I have a P229/.40 I purchased in 1997...carried it forever--changed out the sights every 8-10 years when they got dim. In 2016/2017, I purchased my 3rd set of TFOs and went to install the front sight and the front sight wouldn't seat.
Took the gun to my local armorer/gun shop and he told me when SIG changed their design (mid 2000s?), they changed the cut in the front sight (made it deeper/wider), so he had to install a shim in the front sight.
