Is there any significant internal difference between the SIG Target and the Super Target that justifies the price difference?
........other than the fancy grips.

Depends on what models he's talking about.
The P210 Target and Super Target have different barrel/slide lengths.
The 1911 Target and Super Target have the same barrel/slide lengths.
