P210 with handmade grips (sort of) & a magazine question
Hi all, I don't post here much at all, but I do enjoy reading. I wanted to show the grips that I had just customized out of a new set of Hogue G10 grips for my P210 Target. I had somebody on Etsy make a couple of Sig medallions out of brass (bigger than normal grip medallions, .625 to be exact), cut recesses into the grips with my pencil grinder, curved the medallions to the contour of the grips and JB welded them in place. Extremely happy with how they turned out. I Couldn't be happier at all with the P210 Target which my son bought me for helping him work on his new home.
The question I have is about the magazine base plates. I contacted Sig and they said they don't have any of the base plates for sale from the P210 standard. I know armory craft makes a thinner base plate, but I was looking for something directly from Sig. I thought I read somewhere that a P225 base plate will fit, does anybody in fact know that that is true and/or know where I could get just the base plate? Thanks for any help!!! (I don't know if I am supposed to blur out the serial number, but I did it anyways Smile)

I believe these are the Standard (not Target) magazines, if that helps you. Your custom grips look GREAT!

Thanks SPOAT, I was originally hoping to just get the base plate, but since the price of that magazine isn’t too bad, I’d kind of be foolish to just get the baseplate which would probably cost me $20 anyways! I will contact them and make sure that the standard magazine!

Your grips look very nice, much better than the stock ones on Targets IMO.
I bought a 210 Target for my SIL and would like to find a more "standard" set of black grips. Wonder if those from a Carry will fit?

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Thanks!
No expert here but my understanding is that P210 Carry grips will not fit, but the P210 Standard will fit the Target model. The Carry version has an alloy frame that must be a little different than the steel frames of the Standard and Target.

There are specific Hogue wood grips for the steel frame (Target and Standard) and for the aluminum frame (Carry) P210s.

Their G10 grips, however, are the same for all models.

Thanks, I guess I never realized they were talking about the earlier Swiss/German magazines.

^^^^ Oh, it (the flat P225/P6 base) does work with the Italian (Mec-Gar) mag, also. My post in that thread about it not working has to do due to the Italian mag being a little longer than the German and Swiss mag. So, the Italian mag cannot work with the Swiss P210 that uses the heel mag release, even if fitted with the P225 flat base..

Italian mag on left, German in middle, Swiss on right. All with the flat base. You can see the Italian is longer.
