Take a chance on a mud rail 226?
A guy offered me a like new, low round count P226 for my CZ SP-01. He has no box for it, 2 mags… What you think?

It's fine. Just bear in mind to not use hot ammo through it. But make sure you first get a chance to field strip it and look closely at the frame rails for any cracks.

Never use +P ammunition in it.

Grease the rails good.

Unless you're a collector, I'd keep the CZ.

I have a mud rails 137XXX and no cracks and used it with a lot of types of ammunition including +P before I found this out the other day.

Don't use +P/+P+ etc for durability reasons like everyone said.

P226 will serve your family for multiple generations of normal shooting.

I would check frame rails for wear.

I do that on all SIG Classics to check for excessive wear.

If it looks NRA Excellent, I'd go for it.

CZ's (SP 01) are cheaper for a new one than to get a NRA excellent rated W. German/German P226 usually.

One that has most of its original finish, fully functioning etc, rails not worn much.

PS I use TW25B grease on the rails, I recommend that, others would recommend SLIP2000 grease products.

Either way grease on the rails is a good idea.

I use CorrosionX CLP as my CLP and it works excellent for preserving my SIGs finish.

Which years of production would the SN 137,000-157,000 include? 1986-1987 roughly?

Sold the SP-01, bought a mint P225-A1. Those things are hard to find!
