I've been on a revolver kick lately, and have purchased several. Today I took a Model 10 Classic to the range. The gun is every bit as good looking as the original, and the finish, while not blued, appears to be the nice new shiny black finish commonly in use today. It has the same crappy issue grips, etc.

I ran two boxes of 130 grain range ammo at 15 and 20 yards, with gratifying results. I was using 6 inch Dirty Bird target, and, out of 100 rounds, only missed the target twice (but hit just outside the black.) This was not really surprising toIt's a me as I have fired a bazillion rounds thru a model 10. I also ran a 50 round box of Critical Duty rounds downrange and had very good results. I was quite pleased with myself.

I doubt I will ever carry it concealed, as it has a 4 inch barrel. It's a fun gun, though.

So this is a new M10 you recently purchased? What barrel length and does it have a lock? Any pics?

4 inch S&W repro, no lock, all in the 1960's ish style. It from their classic series.

Suprised when I saw this on a Sig site. I bought my 10-8 new in 1985 and just last night bought a new holster for it. Mine is a like new nickel 4in K Square butt. They look better in leather to me (my sig in kydex) I don't carry the Smith much it is my night stand and table top gun.

To really bring back the "Classic Model 10" and other "Classic Models" in all their glory, S&W needs to make these revolvers with firing pin in hammer, pinned barrels and non MIM small parts. If they have a Custom Shop, they could easily be turning out such pieces as per customer request. Of course the cost will be more, but I'd be in for one.

I'm glad you like your Model 10. I have a whole shelf of Model 10's in my safe so I won't be buying one of those; but I did recently buy two of the new Mountain Guns (686 and 617). Despite some people's troubles with new gun features and QC, I found quality of both of mine just as good as any of my vintage S&W revolvers. Hopefully the lock is on its way out and no-lock models will spread across their whole catalog as they sell off current inventory.

I've been thinking about picking up a Model 10 for long enough that I should probably just get off my butt and go do it. I can see how the OP might not quite see it as a carry piece, but there's a cubbyhole above my desk that should juuust about accommodate a 4" barrel without the grip protruding.

I only have one S&W model 10 (pre) and haven't even shot it. It might be time

With really good condition old school model 10’s from the 60’s running half the cost of the new classic, it doesn’t make sense to me to buy the current ones.

Now if they brought out a 3” 13, I would probably bite, considering how scarce and expensive the originals are
