That is a gorgeous pistol.

Only one, probably a 1911.
Though, I’d be hard pressed to choose between that and Glock 21

I love my P-220s but I think I'd have to go with my G-21...

One of the two .45's that I have, an FNH FNP-45, flat bottom mags 14+1. An accurate and amazingly soft shooter.

Or if carry were more important, a P220 Carry SAS gen.2. But I do have a Bullard holster for the FNP. So FNP-45

One and one only .45 auto....I've owned eight 1911's over the years (commercial Colts & Rugers), carried an issued one (a Remington-Rand 1911A1) for 10 months in Vietnam in 1970, and had extended access to another half dozen or so here in the CONUS. Too, several of my own were expensively gun-smithed for NRA Bullseye competition, & yet another was a fine Series 70 Colt Gold Cup.

But given the choice of them all, I'd pick the one below...a Sig 1911 RCS...

It's features include: a match bbl. and trigger, checkered front grip and MSH. And with an abbreviated beaver tail, humped grip safety, tritium sights, flat black coating over an alloy & stainless steel construction, as well as a melted exterior for smooth draw/presentation, it's all I want or need for concealed carry (or superior range practice for that matter, as well) but with none of the extraneous clutter of race guns.

This one's 100% reliable with my carry ammunition and has demonstrated 2" or less accuracy with it, when my 78 yr old eyes are up to the challenge. Early on, I picked up a Sig Xchange upper in .22 LR, that's been a hellofa lot of fun too, and with ammunition it likes, has similar accuracy to the .45.

It's been my carry choice when I've felt the need for a large caliber...and is a frequent companion while roaming the fields surrounding our KY farm.

Fifty plus years of steady use with other 1911's of lesser pedigree and potential, make it a natural for me...YMMv of course, but this masterpiece by Sig will do just fine in my world. Best regards, Rod

Man. This is a hard one… I would narrow it down to a P220 or a HK45c. Then flip a coin to the one that gets the ultimate nod.

I have lots of .45's (all 1911's). IF I had to choose one, it would be my S/S Ed Brown Kobra 5", it just feels so nice shooting it......my WC would have to go.......and the others.

I have owned many 45ACP's over the past 54 years from Kimber,Ruger,Norinco,Colt,Ingersol, Springfield and Taurus and still have all of them accept the Springfield, Ruger and the Norinco. But if I had to choose only one it would be based on performance repair requirements and only one stands out. I bought this new in 2009, have shot more than 6000 rounds, replaced springs very 2000 and had to replace the extractor once. Other than normal cleaning nothing else has ever been done to this pistol, it's entirely factory, tight, accurate and will function perfectly with any ammo with the exception of Truncated Cone bullets. Now Maybe I got lucky, I don't know and got a good one, but hands down I would stake my life on my TAURUS PT-1911. Taurus has got a bad reputation, I've owned many different models and I'll admit some were not worth owning, But I would not trade my PT-1911 for a different 1911.

Perhaps a brain fart, and they meant a WW2-era USGI Remington Rand M1911A1?

My last "personally owned-department approved" duty weapon: Nighthawk Custom GRPII. Great shooter. Reliable, soft recoiling, outstanding accuracy, and it's DLC finish keeps it looking new regardless of how many hours of holster carrying it's been through.

My Kimber Ultra CDP II. The sweetest and gentlest shooting .45 I've ever laid my hands on. It's like butter. Next would be the Kimer Eclipse full sized. Both excellent pistols.

It's funny how we grow to love or hate particular brands/guns. I've seen many negative posts about Kimbers (and, to be fair, many favorable ones as well), but I have never had any issue with mine. Perfect out of the box and perfect after many thousands of rounds.

Hmmm...

I have the SIG P220 in SAO and DA/SA, HK45C LEM, M&P 45 M2.0, Glocks 30 and 21 and various 1911's.

I dislike the P220 SAO. The HK45C is decent, but the grip needs work. The M&P 45 has a terrible grip texture, but good form. The 1911 is well known and good. But, I like the Glocks 21 and 30 Gen 4 best. The P220 DA/SA was my first, however.

My newest .45 is probably my best shooter, a CZ P-10F. It has been discontinued in .45, but apparently it's getting brought back in an optics ready configuration.

If only one .45 I want it to be an HK Mark 23. It is a great shooter and performs well with or without a silencer. It can handle plus P loads and also 45 Super.
I know it is on the large size, but works well for me. I still have smaller guns in various other calibers.

For TEOTWAWKI, a USP Tactical. If it is just one in a non TEOTWAKI scenario, a Cabot 1911. https://cabotguns.com/better-t...custom-1911-pistols/
