Bought my first Beretta. Login/Join

I’ve resisted until last week.

A couple of weeks ago at work I bought for the store a 92FS. Kind of rough around the edges but mechanically it was fine. I started looking it over and I’ll admit that in the past I lumped Berettas in with Lugers, just no cosmetic appeal whatsoever.

Well, I kind of thought about buying it but instead I sold it to a customer the next day I worked. Fast forward to a week ago Saturday and as my normal M.O. I scan the showcases, racks and walls for the used guns while comparing to my mental notes of which of my regular customers they might appeal to.

Towards the end of the day I saw a 92A1 that had a little cosmetic “Bubba action” done to the barrel. Barrel was serial numbered to the gun (Italian production) and threaded! I’ve been procrastinating on getting a supressor host, the price was right, so you know the rest of the story.

Went to work a bit early yesterday, was able to get in about ten minutes on the range before we opened. Half box of ammunition, first five were to the left of bullseye, subsequent twenty shots grouped tighter and in the bullseye ring.

All in all, pretty happy. Next step, the can.

A suppressed Beretta 92 is a special thing. Congrats, and enjoy.

Now go ham on mags! The five I ordered were brand new, no signs of blems, just zero packaging and thrown loose in a box with packing paper. Worth it.

I just bought a M9A4. I really like it so far.

I just ordered a comp from PMM and will set it up like this.

To elaborate on the “Bubba action” to the barrel, the prior owner stripped and bright polished it. I took a chance with Oxpho blue and while it evenly colored it came out more blue than I like. So I will have to try to darken it some more. Last resort is a Cerakote finish but long term wear is a concern.

Going to try to get to the range again today but yard work is staring me in the face.

P220 Smudge, thanks for the heads up. Never heard of Euro, I’ll have to get some more mags ordered this week. As much as I “hate” to say it there may be another one down the road. As in Belgian High Powers you can’t have just one, they get lonely……at least that’s what I tell myself.

I got 10 of those mags a few weeks ago when they were 13.99. I haven't found anything wrong with them but eurooptic just threw them all in a small box to ship them. I figured they would at the very least put them in individual bags. Roll Eyes

As for the Luger, while some folks don’t consider it to be beautiful, it undeniably has a teutonic esthetic that many folks, including me, find appealing.

Congratulations.

Old story, my first handgun in 1994 was an Italian INOX 92FS.
Sold it and bought my first Sig.

Always wanted to have my first firearm back in the safe.
So last fall, 32 years later, I set out to find another one.
Found one on GB, pristine and perfect.
Probably paid too much for it, but it is exactly what I wanted.

A month later, I bought a surplus 84BB.

A month after that, a used INOX Bobcat Model 21A.
The Bobcat is currently at Beretta due to some accuracy and cycling issues.
Seems like I bought someone else's problem gun, but I decided to get it repaired. Wink

The PMM comps are nice in that you don't have to worry about any screws or anything additional. The problem is getting them lined up and torqued down with the spacers.
