So I have been hunting for a new carry pistol. I currently carry a Kimber Micro 9, but it doesn’t have a lot of capacity.

I haven’t had a striker fired pistol in a many years. This one, when I dry fired it, didn’t feel as “sproingy” as other striker fired pistols. (Sproing is the best term I have for the weird feeling when I fire a striker pistol. Kind of like when you stretch out a slinky and let it go.)

I was in Cal Ranch the other day and I put my hands on the XMacro Comp. It’s one heck of a nice pistol. Small, light, high capacity. It feels really good in my hand, and it’s surprisingly small.

To those that have the Legion, are you happy with it? Pros and cons? The Legion has an alloy frame. What else makes the Legion worth $300 more?

I don't own one (never shot one either!), BUT...

I visited the SIG Experience Center/SIG Academy in Epping, NH recently and got to handle the P365-AXG Legion...Damn if that didn't feel better in my hand than ANYTHING I've handled in a very long time, if ever! If you're up for the price of admission, and you handle one, I'm pretty confident the P365 AXG Legion will go home with you! Cool

For me, the sweet spot with the 365 for EDC is the “X” configuration - the 3.1” barrel on the 12 round frame. It’s very concealable but still gives me a full grip.

I have a standard 10 round original, a 12 round X and a 17 round Macro without the comp. I use the original for pocket/ankle carry, the X for IWB carry and the Macro as a range gun. FWIW, all 3 of mine have the Wilson Combat grip frames and manual safeties.

I have the legion and the tac ops x macro, the legion with the metal frame is my favorite mainly because of the little extra weight and it has that comp thingy it does make a difference to me.

They both feel really nice in the hand and I shoot them much better than my Glocks which I just sold all of, I had the 43x 48 and the g45 after shooting the tac ops I was just sold on it along with the 17 rd factory magazines it's a pretty tough gun to beat. the barrel on the tac ops is slightly longer than the legion, for me I pack the tac ops and range the legion. they also have a new one called the fuze coming out which is kind of a full size 365 but I haven't fondled it yet. for me both are perfect for what I use them for.

I was surprised at how well the X Macro Comp pistol shot and performed. The comp really does an amazing job with recoil felt/muzzle flip compared to the non-comped guns. I rented an X-Macro at the range and put together a X-Macro Comp slide on an XL frame and really like the overall feel. It is compact and does not print as much as the larger Macro grip on me but it has a good grip and capacity. I have held the metal frames and fired a couple but I didn't care for the larger frame/size and the mag well width seems to print more with my shirts/body/frame, as it is a little wide. I do like the option with higher capacity mags, up to 21 rounds and was wondering when Sig was going to step up their P365 game and they finally did.

Either gun will make an excellent choice.

I almost feel like the xcomp with a WC grip frame would be the wise investment.

I’m ditching a triple serial matching KF 228 for the 365. The alloy frame keeps calling my name.

I’m super confused as it’s next to impossible to feel the WC grip frame.

Which WC frame size? My X Macro (non comp) has the 17 round WC Macro frame and it’s great. What I see a lot of folks doing is running a comp slide on a WC 12 round XL frame. That’s becoming a very popular config.

Plus one for that. I run the Macro Comped slide on my XL frame and then carry the Macro 17 round mag with the sleeve on it and can club up or down. Shoots flat. I agree with the AXG grip and feel but that’s the sweet spot for me.

I love the AXG Legion! I was very surprised at its light weight, but controllability. I wanted a Legion as I didn’t want the plastic frame. Have taken it out, and boy, was it nice. Even my hubby liked it. It fit my hand perfectly, felt very natural and hubby even said it wasn’t too small for him either. I’m even considering getting another one just to have an extra. Haven’t shot the macro, but a friend of ours loves his. I’m thinking they are very similar other than the frame material. And ours functioned perfectly, very accurate too, no issues at all.
Edited to add:
I would have no worries about this being an edc, love the high capacity too. Found a LGS near us that had them in stock, and under $1100 too. I think the extra money is worth getting the AXG Legion IMHO.

XLT, northern Indiana. I got lucky, none of the shops I usually frequent had them so I could handle one. I had seen them on GB for anywhere from 1199 on up, but I wanted to hold one first. I kept looking and asking off and on. We got an email from one shop we had just started to visit, as i had signed up for email alerts, and while I can’t remember the exact price, I’m pretty sure it was like just under 1100, at which I was like wow. I want to say it was about 1099 at the most. I called immediately, to make sure they did have them in stock. I even told them it was their email that brought me in for it.
Needless to say, I got one, and I absolutely love it, I was very impressed.
I did just check that shops inventory, and darn it, they seem to be out now, prob sold out fast. I’ll have to save up some more and keep watching their emails. They’ve turned out to be a really nice place, and pricing is usually right at or just below other places.

I’ve been reading a lot of reviews, and watching a lot of comparisons on YouTube, and it’s pretty much across the board, the Legion is favored.
I’m pretty sure that’s the direction I will be heading.
I looked at different grip modules, and I could easily get to the same cost as the Legion, by basically building the Legion. Might as well get it from the factory.

I’ll offer you one counter to your thoughts here and that is that if you want a manual safety, the Legion is a no go, without major surgery. That’s why I chose an X Macro and got a WC grip frame for it. Even tho that particular Wilson isn’t available w the MS cut, it’s an easy DIY job.

All 3 of my P365’s have manual safeties on them, but that’s just my preference.

Not that concerned with a manual safety. I feel like a striker fired weapon is no different than carrying a double action with the hammer de-cocked. I don’t have a safety of my P228 ne never needed one.
The 365 has a pretty decent trigger pull, so it’s a non-issue to me.

I took my 365 legion and my 365 x macro tac ops out today and did a side by side comparison and the little 2 port comp on the front does makes a very noticeable difference.
I loaded my 124 gr relads in one magazine shot half of it and quickly switched guns and it definitely keeps the muzzle down and just feels like it shoots softer. Love both guns but for me I would take the legion over the tac ops for those reasons if I had to choose, worth the extra cost to me.

Just to make sure you understand what you're getting into...the P320 and P365 use a fully-cocked striker, which is more analogous to an single-action trigger than a double-action. All of the energy necessary to drive the striker into the primer is stored loaded in the spring, and pulling the trigger simply moves the sear out of the way to release it.

On a DA gun, like your P228, pulling the trigger loads the spring and creates the energy necessary to strike the primer hard enough to discharge the round. There are some striker-fired systems that are similar to this. Glock for example uses a partially cocked striker, so pulling the trigger is still loading the spring before the sear releases the striker.

Not that any of this necessarily means that you need a manual safety (none of my P320s have one), but I wanted to point it out so that you can make an informed decision about what version to buy and how you want to carry it.

Both, XLT, and 92fstech, thank you. Both replies are very informative. I did not know that about the trigger/striker on the 365. I will definitely be playing with the triggers before I spend the $$$. Thank you for the insight, as that is super informative.

Also, thanks XLT on the difference between the comp and non comp and frame weight reduction in muzzle flip.

Seriously, thank you both.

I have owned a slew of classic P series SIGs in the past and currently own about 9 Glocks and 3 P365s. To me, the trigger on the P365 has way too little travel and way too light a pull before the sear releases. It feels almost like walking around with a classic P series with the hammer cocked in single action mode.

For safety reasons, I will not carry a P365 without a manual safety. All 3 of mine have a MS installed. It takes way less effort than a Glock to set off a P365.

YMMV…
