I've been wanting a compact hammer fired pistol, and have become interested in the CZ P-07 9mm.

Would love to hear from anyone with experience with this pistol, just this one or compairisons with Sig SP2022.

Thank you in advance,
Gary

I like mine but I added the Cajun Gun Works carrot trigger package and new sights. Great gun, shares mags with the P10 family.

I EDC a P-07 in warm weather. Size, capacity, ergonomics, excellent trigger and CZ quality make for a great gun. Cajun Gun Works and MCarbo offer excellent custom work on them too.
The only real drawback for me was in order to get the factory night sights, you have to buy the OD green frame model.

I've had one for a few years, great pistol. Only drawback in my opinion is the grip is a little slippery. Talon Grips solved that issue though.

I have had one since 2015. I like the PCR and my current P320 more, but it has never given me any trouble.

He’s right about slippery. I put skateboard tape on mine. Looks like hell but necessary.

My brother has a P07 Duty. It's been a few years since I shot it, but I remember the frame being kinda sharp on the edges of the trigger guard and a couple of other spots...just kind of unrefined. Nothing you couldn't likely fix with a little sandpaper in a few minutes. It shot well and has been very reliable. He still has it and carries it regularly.

IMO the SP2022 is a more polished and ergonomically pleasing platform with equal reliability. They're both good guns, but if I had to choose I'd pick the Sig due to a slight edge in fit and finish and because I am familiar with and prefer the layout of the controls.

That was, to use an imprecise but descriptive term, the first generation. I agree that it was pretty unrefined. The new/current one does away with the fit/finish/appearance and sharp edge problems, as well as having a trigger that doesn't gouge your finger and the de rigueur adjustable-size grip backstraps. Although they are ambidextrous, the decocking levers are a little harder to use than those of the PCR or SIG. This the only thing I have close toa gripe about it.

An SP2022 is larger and harder to conceal, but it has a better trigger in both DA & SA.

P-07 has a larger aftermarket. It's easier to find mags, holsters, sights, etc and has more options, including CGW upgrades if you're into modding.

You should be able to find a P-07 new in the mid-$400 range. It holds its value better than an SP2022. New SP2022s are relatively expensive, but very lightly used ones are commonly had in the low $400 range.

I got rid of my P-07, b/c I have a P-01 (multiple actually). The only thing the P-07 does better than the P-01 is cost less. Although they are polymer vs aluminum alloy frame, the P-07 only weighs 1/3rd oz less. If you can do w/o a Pic rail, the Al alloy frame PCR weighs less than the P-07.

If you're shopping used, beware that early production of the P-07 Duty (no front serrations) had problems w/ the frame flexing & bulging.

Thanks everyone for your respones. I have the Houge Grip Sleeves on a couple of my other pistoles, (really like them) and see they now have one out for the CZ P-10. Maybe they will make one for the P-07 soon.

The P07 is a fine pistol. If you're looking at one of those I would also seriously consider the LTT Compact Carry. The LTT is more expensive than a stock P07 but it's better than a P07 with Cajun Parts. I've owned both, no longer have the CZ.

I had one for several years. The grip felt great, the trigger was good and it was very accurate. My only complaint was that the slide was just too thick to comfortably carry for me. I wish I hadn't sold it.

It is in my carry rotation paired with Black Arch Porotos-M. Main selling point (for me) over the Sig was the size/weight. Also, while I prefer the Sig manual-of-arms over all others, with my shooting grip I tend to ride the slide stop on P-series Sigs--and this is even worse with the design of the SP2022--but the CZ is no problemo. As you know, options are limited in this "class" of pistol, and I'm not sure I considered anything other than the Sig or CZ.

I can see why others find the grip slick, although it absolutely isn't an issue for me, as I find this to be a very soft shooting 9mm, and the grip texture seems to be in all the right places. I shoot waaay thumb forward, so I put some skateboard tape in front of the textured memory pads on the dustcover. The polymer seam on the tang/beavertail is annoying... I still need to take a file to that.

Finish/bluing is quite good, although Sig's is better. I prefer the appearance of the paint on metal-framed CZ pistols, but this is much more durable for EDC--I've gotten water and other corrosive chemicals on mine, and it is 99%.

I'm not a fan of the Omega trigger system out-of-the-box, but many, including me, have found that in this pistol the trigger definitely improves over time with shooting/dry firing.

The sights are very easy to swap (I went with XS, as I prefer the i-dot style).

Note, P10c mags work in the P07, which is also a nice feature.

I had one and it was a great gun, never had an issue with its function or accuracy. My only issue was the same I have with most every CZ. The height of the slide makes it hard for me to get a good grip to quickly manipulate the slide. It’s not a CZ issue, it’s a me issue. I ended up settling on HK for my polymer hammer fired gun needs. I have a P2000 and a P30.

I just picked up a P07 suppressor ready model. I've yet to shoot it but she's built like a tank.

The trigger leaves a little to be desired. I cleaned it up with Cajun Gunworks 15# hammer spring, reduced power firing pin block spring, and a little polishing. Cost was $21 shipped.

The SA is very nice, with dry fire the DA has gotten smoother.

SIG, please redesign, update the Sigpro! Give us some smaller ones, SRT, better textures, Optic cuts, etc.

Would love a thinner / slimmer smaller Sigpro!

Don't expect them (SIG) to read wishlists, write them directly! If enough people do, there's a better chance of ideas becoming realities.

The P07 is a fantastic pistol. A great balance of big enough for duty but small enough to CC. Dimensionally it's almost identical to a P229.

Gents,

I'm familiar with the P-07 and have a P-01. I'd have a P-07, but I am not a fan of polymer, hence the choice of the P-01. The P-07 does everything the P-01 does, but at a lower price point. That's the only difference that I can see...if the P-01 was not available I would carry the P-07. It's that good and gets my recommendation without reservation.
