I had a P07 for awhile but wasn't a fan of the trigger or grips. I sold it once the Walther PDP series came out and switched over to the striker fired polymers.

To what Bender said, I put the Cajun package in my P07. It improved it tons. It is a nice trigger. It isn’t as nice as any of the similar Cajun packages in their metal guns. No idea why.

That being said I do like the gun.

I've handled & dry-fired a fully Cajunized P-07. While the mods significantly improved the trigger, I think the stock trigger on the SP2022 was superior.

My $0.02 Sig SP2022 vs CZ P-07 Comparison

I’ll weigh in since I own both of these great handguns and this thread encouraged me to grab both from my safe and head to the range for some compare and contrast between the two. For context, I’ve owned both the Sig and the CZ for more than 5 years and have over 2,000 rounds (and who knows how many dry fire pulls) through each. Ammo used in both is my go-to factory load, Sellior & Bellot 124gr FMJ. The Sig is one of the earlier (circa 2007 made in Germany models, with Ilafon finish, completely stock. The only thing I’ve done to the Sig is replace the short trigger (aka skinny trigger) with the standard trigger (ala P-series size). On the other hand, the CZ has several upgrades I installed from Cajun Gun Works: 15lb main spring, reduced power firing pin spring, roller bearing, hammer, extra heavy sear spring, and Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight with black rear. That right there tells you a lot. In my opinion, to get the trigger action of the CZ anywhere close to the stock action on the Sig, it took installing some Cajun parts. Which brings me to my first point of comparison.

Trigger: Sig wins. The SP2022 has a heavy but smooth pull with a very clean break. Most revolver like DA in all my semi-autos. After a pronounced reset, the SA is very crisp as well, with only a small amount of pre-travel. I find the standard trigger (same feel as the P-series Sigs) to be very comfortable. In stock form, the CZ trigger was heavy, gritty (even after several hundred rounds), and there was a felt inconsistency in the DA pull, sometimes it was heavier and sometimes it was lighter. I think it maybe had to do with an uneven stock DA roller bearing. Again, after installing the parts from Cajun, this inconsistency cleared up and the trigger is night and day smoother and more consistent. With the 15lb hammer spring, the trigger feels even lighter than the Sig, but as with all CZ triggers, you still seem to feel each of the components of the action come together through the pull. Not really a big deal in actual firing, but to me that’s a lack of refinement that the Sig brings to the table.

Ergonomics: CZ wins. The CZ is such a natural pointer and the grip is very comfortable, allowing the shooter to get a high grip with ease. The Sig feels a bit chunkier in the grip. Both come with 3 size grip straps (S,M,L). I run a medium on the CZ, and a medium on the Sig. Replacing the grip straps is easier on the Sig, as on the CZ, it requires removing the hammer spring cap and pin using a punch while keeping the hammer spring slightly compressed.

Controls: Sig wins for me as I love the placement of the Sig decocker and slide stop. The CZ isn’t bad, but it takes a more deliberate change in grip to use the decock lever. On the Sig, for me, is just a simple up or down motion of the thumb. If you don’t like the Sig decocker, than the CZ will be better for you.

Sights: Sig slightly wins. The Sig came with Siglite night sights and these are good sights. The CZ came with standard 3-dot white on black sights. Both are steel sights, not plastic. I had a hard time focusing on the stock front sight with the CZ, so I ended up replacing it with the Dawson Precision fiber optic front and black serrated rear sight. These are awesome for the range and for my middle aged eyes.

Accuracy: I shoot the Sig slightly better, with more precision and consistency however, the CZ isn’t far behind. The Sig feels a bit heavier and it helps with keeping me steady on target. Both guns are capable of the same accuracy if the shooter does their part.

Recoil: I don’t really notice a difference between the two. The CZ feels like it has minimal muzzle rise and the Sig feels more flippy, most likely due to the taller slide. However, these are 9mm so easily controllable.

Carry: One thing I really like about the Sig is that it feels like it has a carry melt treatment to it. There are no discernible snag point whereas the CZ is more angular. If I carry either IWB, the Sig feels a lot more comfortable for longer period of time.

End User Service: For some, this is an important distinction and the CZ wins here. You can take the CZ down with a single punch, no special tools required. The Omega trigger system in the P07 is easy to work on, although there are limitations in home much polishing you can do before having an adverse effect on timing or fit of the components. Combine the ease of service with availability of both factory and aftermarket parts from Cajun Gun Works, CZ Custom, MCarbo, and you have a gun you can keep running yourself. The Sig SP 2022 was not designed with end user service in mind and therefore you can only take it down so far and there are things that would require you to send it back to Sig in case service or repair is needed. For example, the hammer is actually a hammer box component and Sig does not sell all of the springs and pins separately, you'd have to get the entire hammer box component. Also, on my SP2022, if I ever needed to replace my firing pin, I'd have to send it to Sig because the solid style firing pin retaining pin is pressed in so tightly, I doubt I could remove it with a simple punch. Hopefully those are things that don't fail, and I do have a few of the standard replaceable components on hand (recoil, trigger return spring, etc).

Finally, some side by side pictures of the two.

P07 is a great gun. I bought it used from a buddy. Horrible trigger stock form. Horrible. It’s why my buddy sold it.

If I had to summarize, it is a very good gun that would never be my first choice except perhaps cost. It’s not better at anything. It’s just another really good gun in a sea of really good guns. I prefer metal CZ hammer guns. I prefer HK hammer guns. I prefer Beretta hammer guns. That being said I would feel very comfortable with an upgraded P07 for any task.

If it’s stock, I would take almost anything else.

Nice unexpected report you posted! I would say from what I've read here that most have favorable opinions of the P-07. If I buy one I'll go the route of "sg" with P-07 suppressor ready model.

The idea of a suppressor intreges me, but the idea of spending close to twice as much for it as the for the gun is discouraging.

Eaganite, you can't go wrong with the P-07. It's a very good platform, that can be made great with a few small upgrades. You can even save $50 if you order it in 2022 with the current CZ rebate Wink https://cz-usa.com/cz-rebate/

Good luck and have a Happy New Year!

About the biggest thing wrong with the P-07 is it's not a P-01. I'm not sure if it is, but the P-01 feels smaller in every dimension and is about the only Glock 19 sized gun I can get a full grip on.

I have two. One is as purchased and the other has the MCarbo package. both are good guns, with good trigger and accuracy. If it interests you, you should consider the P01 Omega. Just my opinion,
