I work next to a gun shop so occasionally I like to check out the used case for early 2000’s era steel frame and alloy frame Sigs (my personal favorites).

Today was a GOOD DAY! There was a P239 sitting in the case with a price tag of $250. I said “I’ll take it” even before flipping it over to see what caliber it is chambered in. Unfortunately it’s 40S&W but that opens up the option of 357Sig with a barrel swap.

I have wanted a P239 for a looooooooooooooong time. Sure they are obsolete by modern carry gun standards but I have always loved the looks and feel of this pistol.

Years ago one of my good friends had one in 9mm and I always thought it was a good shooting pistol.

3 mags, extra aluminum grips and a range bag for $250 seemed too good to pass up.

How did I do?

I haven't shot my p239 .40 in a decade but I don't think I'll sell it. If I saw this for $250, I'd have taken it home also.

I believe the .357 takes specific mags in the 239

And a solid roll pin no less (SA4). I recently bought a 9mm slide, barrel and recoil springs for my 40 (ebay). I have 9mm mags, the slight size difference in the mag to frame fit is negligible as is the ejector. Functions great, no malfunctions. Even an OE 9mm barrel swap should work in a pinch. Cheaper plinking/training than 40/357. enjoy. You stole that.

Note: 40 mags will work for 357 but not the reverse.

A 7 shot heavy ass single stack pistol in .40 no less. That is likely to get you killed. Jesus man what were you thinking!!! I’ll give you a hundred for scrap and I’ll pay shipping only because I care about your well being.

It has specific mags that are pinched for the shoulder of the necked round, but for the range, the .40 mags will feed .357 and 9mm.

And for $250, OP did very well.

Yes, get rid of the factory grips. They make it impossible to hold onto (for me) w/o having to readjust grip after a few shots. I got the sweaty paws.

Nice snag. What do the rails look like? I bought one in 2007 just like it. Over several years I put 3k rounds through it. In spite of following Flork’s lubrication recommendations, the gun beat itself up, wore the rails to bare alloy in places and rattled like a baby’s toy. But it still shot well.

A couple years into ownership, I replaced the stock grips with Hogue checkered G-10s. The checkering helped the grip feel and the rounded front alleviated the flat front strap feel. I also put grip take on the front strap. Looks like you got the grips covered though.

Enjoy. I sold mine but like other guns I’ve sold, I regret selling mine as it really handled 40 S&W well.

I also had some plus one magazine baseplates from Top Gun Supply which gave me another round and a little place for my pinky.

They are excellent guns and it’s a great deal. I’m not sure why you think it’s obsolete as a CC as it still does what it’s supposed to do.it may be heavy but it’s a great gun. I have fallen back in love with the steel hammer fired pistols. It’s subjective but I feel they shoot better.

For that price, absolutely!
A P239 in 40 was the first Sig I shot. My dad bought his in 1996 & still has it

Excellent deal. Those grip are worth $100, and would be my choice to use immediately. I wouldn't even blink if I saw that price in a case for a P239. I have 3 myself and always open to adopting another one.

What is the finish on that silver one? It’s not my style but it’s interesting and I have never seen it before.

Define "silver" one. The one on the far left is an original Sig two-tone finish. It has Nill grips and nickel plated controls. It is a .357 Sig.

The middle one is a crazy one I found on Kittery Trading Post website. A lot of people were making fun of it. But they had it listed at $425. The benefit is it had an original 357 Sig barrel. It also shipped with 5 mags, a spare .40 barrel, and extra recoil springs. My first thought was I could refinish it if I wanted. But being an old Star Wars fan, I'm leaving it as-is.

Far right is my first one that I bought new in 2004. Carried it for a long time. Still looks great. The grips on that one came from the old Hogue auction site that was promoted by Ken at Hogue here on Sigforum for a long time.
