Glock coming out with “new & improved” that you will no longer be able to attach the switch
I've been telling people for more than sixteen years to go get one, and now, all of a sudden, it's a five-alarm fire.

I was in a couple of shops today and Glock prices were normal, and they had pretty good selection, including MOS models. They actually had a blue label 43X MOS that kinda tempted me, but I'm in no hurry and kinda want to wait for the COA models to become available.
The internet is really good at fomenting panic where it needn't exist. Glock is going to come out with a product that's as good or better than their previous one, and there will be plenty to go around. The folks who are losing their minds over the change will just make it easy to offload the old ones.

I wonder if the Ruger RXM can use the switch. It's basically a Gen 3 clone.

Oh, we’re all familiar with that thread! It’s responsible for at least 8 of my purchases from Glock. (I swear you have stock in that company!)
I don’t understand the “rush” to go out and get a Glock all of a sudden. Since 1982, 25 Million Glocks have been produced. They are out there. They aren’t rare (with maybe the exception of the European .380). It’s a Glock. It’s always going to be a Glock. A very simple chunk of plastic and steel that (unless you muck with it) goes “BANG” when you need it, and puts that chunk of lead pretty much where you want it to go.
Outside of a dual recoil spring, ambidextrous slide release, ability to toss on an optic and light, and rifled barrels, not much has changed in 42+ years. I don’t think much is going to change with the “V” models or the 6th Gen stuff. It just won’t be as easy to toss in “the switch” and convert it to full auto.
Speaking of that… So Glock is being pro-active with this. What about the other after market companies out there? Are they all of a sudden going to follow suit? Probably not. So I guess this “switch” problem isn’t going away anytime soon.

I suspect that the small, aftermarket companies would need to be sued in court like Glock. And to do so the plaintiffs (states and cities) would need to find at least one of their products with a switch installed.

CA law bans all guns with a cruciform. I would think the ability of Shadow Systems to sell in CA will be impacted, but who knows, right now.
Ironic too, because some SS guns were rostered in Jan 2025.
Any speculation on the G42? It's not listed on the slimline pistols not being impacted (43, 43x and 48) and it's also not on the discontinued list.

Slimline pistols are unaffected and excluded from the lawsuits, b/c as far as I've seen, no one has ever produced an example of a slimline Glock w/ a switch installed.

Spoke to one of our reps yesterday. He said Gen5 guns will continue to be sold to LE agencies. The commercial market and individual office sales will be Gen V.

That certainly makes sense. But did the CA law give LEO an exception?

They have been exempt from the safe handgun roster all along. You know, AGEs, minions of government are Authorized Personnel, highly trained and not bound by ordinary rules.
