My “hope” is- it’s a misprint.
My “thoughts” are: Glock re-designed the slide in such a way that the new firing pin / spring / backing plate can’t be easily removed and accept the “switch”.
This engineering now makes the top of the slide too thin to machine out the cut for an optic.
I’m hoping Im wrong, because I don’t think Glock would make the mistake that negates a cut for an optic!
Glock would be loosing a ton of business!
Again, Glock does their research and engineering pretty damn good.

YooperSigsWell... What the hell! Based on all the speculation about Glocks new design, I decided to invest in a new Gen 5 19 MOS model. Thanks to SF I have become fully englockulated. I like the Gen 5 version so if the new design is not something I am interested in, I will have all the Glocks I need.

I would think improvement is constant theme.
My quess is some g46 features, take down lever, striker.
.
I am guessing "V" would be the Roman Numeral and just another version of 5 since Gen 6 is/was likely in process as well.

My hope is the Gen6 introduces a direct mount system similar to what Springfield and SIG does. No more plates, just a variety of holes and boss positions to direct mount a number of optics to it.
If they go completely COA, a lot of agencies will just buy the Glock/Aimpoint combo. But, a lot won’t.
To be clear, I have never witnessed an issue with the MOS system that was properly installed.

JupiterGlock has a reputation for releasing different versions of a pistol knowing people will keep buying the latest and greatest.
No light rail, with light rail, not optics cut, with optics cut, no front cocking serrations, with front cocking serrations, etc.. Glock will gladly sell you a Gen V without the optics cut knowing full well you'll buy another one with optics cut when they come out. They will also be happy to sell you a Gen V knowing the Gen 6 is right around the corner. You'll buy that one too.

pedropcolaI love COA so far. Love it. That being said a plate less that fits everything solution is the best road to go down. I’m sure MOS plates are great but I own direct mounts and COA. My MOS slides are optic less because adding height and a second failure point is retarded. It works no argument but in this case less is truly more.
Ie, no one prefers having to use a plate.

andronicusSo does this mean my early Gen 5 Glock 34 is going to be a collector's item?
I really wonder if Ruger saw this coming way in advance and brought out the RXM. I like my Gen 5 Glock 19, but I like the RXM more. I'm keeping both but will get another RXM just because I want one with an OD green frame. I just do.

Don’t know about a collectors item. But, there’s a run on MOS guns going on right now.

tomgunAt our shop the last two days all the Glocks have been sold both new and used.
A lot of people wanting to order mos guns and our distributors are sold out.
A couple customers told us about at least one local store has raised their Glock prices to $900.00. It’s pretty much gone crazy.

P220 SmudgeGlad I bought my Gen 5 19 when I did. That’s absurd.

pedropcolaThis is just as dumb as the 320 stuff. Internet insanity. What number did we decide was how many 10’s of millions of Glocks are out there? Not to mention the V guns might actually be better. Nobody knows.
Retarded. Simply retarded.

Lefty SigAs CA goes the other commie states will follow so Glock needs to maintain sales.
I am not exactly sure how a "switch" works, but I think it would have to change how the disconnector functions to prevent a reset and just allow the slide and striker to slam fire.
So that means changes to the trigger connector, or changes to the slide such that the disconnector cannot be affected by a "switch".
If anyone knows how these work, please explain.

newtoSig765I admit, "If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs..." (Kipling) can be difficult, but if we don't recognize this for what it is, we'll all end up stocking up on toilet paper again.
When Glock dropped the 23 Gen 5, I was disappointed since I want one eventually. Para pointed out that they will be all over the used-gun market and available for years. This is just a bump in the road.

Lefty SigOK, looks like the switch is just a ramped finger that hits the trigger bar and forces it down as the slide returns to battery.
Not sure if it hits the trigger bar after the striker is grabbed and the striker spring starts to compress, like a true auto sear, of it simply prevents any contact of the striker with the trigger bar, creating a slam fire.
So in order to prevent a switch from working, the firing mechanism has to prevent any downward motion of the triger bar after the slide causes the trigger connector to disconnect. Still trying to figure out how....

tomgunI’m curious if there is actually panic buying in other states.
We were thinking in this left controlled state people are so used to panic buying it’s just become automatic anytime something happens.
But then the distributors telling us Glocks are sold out, and looking around online I’m seeing a lot of out of stock at various places.
The stores here marking up prices, we’ve seen that before and I hope people remember that BS. I know I do!

Twenty-five million
There is no shortage of pistols such as the G19 and G17. Unless I'm mistaken, the G19 has been the best-selling pistol in the US and possibly the world for many years. Just be cool and give it a while. If you buy now, you may face scalper's prices
The MOS stuff- well, that's scarcer, of course. If you need a Glock upon which you can stick a big electronic doodad, just sell your car and get one. Whatever
November 02, 2025, 05:39 PM
YooperSigsMy G19 Gen 5 MOS bought on Friday cost $619. Not great but not scalper level.
