Hello. I'm looking at possibly purchasing a P226 Elite. It comes with the E2 grips. My question is can any standard P226 grip be used on the Elite version? I do notice that the Elite configuration has a "cutout" on the frame under the trigger guard. Thanks for any information that can be provided.

As long as your gun has the threaded holes for the grip screws in the frame, you should be able to install standard grip panels. I know the P227 lacks these and requires special bushings to accommodate the grip screws. I'm not aware of any other models that require this, but my knowledge is not exhaustive...the easiest way to tell for sure would be to pop the grips off of your gun and check.
Also note that older grip panels designed for the old-style mainspring seat will need relieved to accommodate the larger new-style plastic seat. That shouldn't be an issue for 90% of the grips that you find on the market today.

Regular grips will work, Hogue is my choice for G10 grips.
The Legion grips are straight and do not follow the undercut, which I thought looked half assed.
I used a set of Hogue P226 Allround grips, they follow the undercut and look much better to me. I used checkered but they have other patterns.
The P226 Allround and regular alloy frames are not the same and the grips will need a little material removed to fit flush on both halves. Took me about 30 minutes with a die grinder and sanding pads to fit them.
Yes, you can use standard P226 grips on the P226 Elite, even with the E2 system. If it's currently fitted with E2 grips, you’ll need the standard grip screw bushings and screws to install traditional two-piece grips. The cutout under the trigger guard won’t affect grip compatibility—it’s mostly a cosmetic/frame feature. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Spencer Wong,

Hi. All P series that got offered with E2 type grips have these bushing slots to use when installing other type of grips, Like the P224, P224 SAS, P227R, P227 SAS to name a few... and they should come with the choice grip from venders like Hogue and others.
