P365 - what are you using for defensive ammo? Login/Join

When I first got my P365 the ammo situation still sucked and quality ammo was hard to find. Normally I've used Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P in my 9mm pistols. I didn't really like the recoil impulse of it in the P365 and ended up using Winchester 115gr Silvertips.

So now with better availability I'm looking to re-evaluate my defensive ammo for this gun. Thinking 147gr loadings might be better with the shorter barrel length. What says the all knowing oracle of knowledge that is SigForum?

My standard size P365 uses Hornady 115gr XTPs.

My P365XL's and Macro's use the Federal 124gr +P HST.

These loads were chosen after testing multiple brands and styles of defensive ammo and I found these to be the best shooters (for me) in terms of groups, comfort and recoil impulse.

Depends on your velocity goal? I generally change loads between seasons. I make use of the Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P load.

I guess I'm a wimp but I don't like shooting the +P or such hot loads in the small P365. I'm much less accurate, so I figure what good is a marginally hot load if you can't hit what you aim at. I stick with V-CROWN, 365 JHP.

Don’t overthink it. 124gr Gold Dots all around. If you prefer HST, fine. Just avoid Critical Defense.

I tried the Sig V Crown ammo and liked it well enough. I have a ton of Speer Gold Dot 115 grain and will use that when the Sig V Crown ammo us used up.

I dont like plus P ammo in this gun.

Tried Hornady Critical Duty 135gr., Sig 365 115gr., and Federal 124gr. HST. It really liked the Federal HST, by far the smallest group and shot to point of aim.

I still have some 147g +P HST that I use in shorter barrels. When that's gone I'll stick with the standard pressure 147g.

147gr HST
It's what I was using in everything else before I got the 365.
Most of my range ammo is 147gr as well.

My employer mandates 124gr Gold Dot. I prefer 147 HST, but won’t complain about the Gold Dot.

Someone mentioned avoid using Critical Defense loads. Why? I've never used them but hear they have a good reputation. Please clarify.
