Around the SE where I currently live, no. If I still had family in Alaska, I would carry a 10mm there with heavier loads than necessary here in se states.

If I did carry a 10mm edc, it would most likely be for a temporary/specific situation. But, I am older now, if I was younger I would probably carry one.

Not that other handgun cartridges are bad it's just that they don't do anything better and a lot of things worse than the 9mm.

Just research the FBI Protocol.

Long story short, unless you go above a velocity of 2200FPS any bullet is simply going to poke a bullet sized hole in or through a human target. Below 2200FPS the temporary wound cavity doesn't expand fast enough to tear, it just stretches the flesh, which simply collapses. You simply need enough to poke a hole deep enough to poke it through the vitals, which is about 16 inches at the most. And modern 9mm cartridges will do this.

Do the research on your own if you don't believe me.

Now, if you're carrying for defense against something like like large bears, then you need the horse power of 10mm or 44mag to poke that bullet sized hole deep enough to hit the vitals of a bear.

One county east of here, in Chambers County, Texas, feral hogs are believed to have killed a home health care worker, as she arrived at her clients’ home.

In the eastern part of this county, Harris, a feral hog, being pursued by dogs, smashed into my mother’s detached garage, THROUGH THE EXTERIOR WALL. Porky home invader!

One county, to the north, Montgomery County, has a documentable, huge, feral hog problem. We often go into eastern Montgomery County, to check on two parcels of forested land, belonging to my wife’s family.

The few bears in the deep Piney Woods, several counties away, are so very shy, I do not worry about them, but I will up-gun for the big piggies. Usually, this means long guns, or revolvers, but now that I have fully adopted, long-term, 9mm Glocks for much urban carry, a 10mm Glock is back on my radar screen.

For reference, this is the Houston, Texas area, not some back-of-beyond place.

I am not meaning to have an argumentative “tone.” Smile

I EDC a 10mm while in the woods but not in the city. 9mm for that.

+1
G26 for urban carry
G20 for wooded carry, where concealability isnt that big of a concern.

It's not that I don't believe you. It's that I just don't care.

The 9mm, 10mm, .45 ACP, .357 Magnum are all perfectly suitable self defense rounds. I happen to just like the 10mm and already have a whole bunch of ammo for it. I already carry a G30 and have holsters for it so a G29 wouldn't require me to buy anything new in that respect.

I was just curious as to who carries one.

I do when out with my camera here in Alaska. I've got a Dan Wesson Razorback and a 3" Ruger GP100. My gripe with them as an EDC is weight. I normally carry an alloy framed 1911 in one form or another. A Glock 29 mitigates the weight issue. Try as I might, I've just never been able to shoot a Glock as well as I can a 1911 or a revolver. The nice thing about 10mm is it's versatility from mild wild.

I guess carrying it won't be any different than carrying my G30 Gen 3. I'm going to find out. I picked up this new G29SF Gen 3 today.
