The Czechmate is CZ’s Open gun with the included frame mounted C-More optic and 3-port comp. I shoot mine without those attached, because I’m not a fan of optics. To answer your question, an optic that doesn’t reciprocate with the slide is going to be more stable than the a frame mounted optic on a TS2 Orange. The comp will further give the Czechmate an advantage. That’s why the Czechmate is illegal in Limited Optics. Having said all that, as pure hubs, the TS2 Orange is a higher quality, better fit and much heavier and more solid pistol than the Czechmate. The Czechmate uses the old spec slide and frame and also doesn’t have a full length dust cover for added weight. Furthermore, a pivoting plastic trigger on a $3000+ pistol is laughable. I do like the Czechmate, but I more bought it just to report on it than I did anything else. If I shot Open class, I’d have more use for it.

So would it be safe to say that the TS2 Orange is the latest and greatest? Looks like the Checkmate is also discontinued but seems plenty can still be had. Any ammo stipulations on the TS2 or will it eat anything?

I have a shadow 2 and a Checkmate that have both been through CZ custom shop. Both great pistols but it’s apples to oranges. They both run like well oiled sowing machines that I shoot the same Hornady 115 grain HAP rounds reloaded through my Dillon Precision presses. The Checkmate has virtually no perceived recoil. The accuracy is crazy. Put the dot where you want and the pistol delivers even at distance. I have an X5 Legion that Rick Holm did the action work on. It’s sweet but a CZ will run circles around it.

CZ may bring out a Czechmate 2 at some point. All my CZ’s run any ammo fine

Real hard to say this but if you were going to only own one … Checkmate or TS2 Orange which one would you go with? I dont plan to run it in competition but just like cool guns that are accurate.

If you like optics and would enjoy a race gun with a big comp, the Czechmate is your choice. Otherwise, the TS2 Orange is just a better gun. In fact, the Shadow 2 Orange is a better gun.

Perfect and thanks for the info. Will most likely add a TS2 Orange and mount a MRD on it and call it a day.

That’s great to hear. Good luck with your purchase

Enablers, all of you. I have a Shadow 2...doesn't push all my buttons- considered sending it out for "improvements". Now my curiosity is piqued, will probably get a TS2 as well.

It's all this time off work due to the holidays. Idle hands are the Devils workshop they say. All the internet surfing always seems to yield new toys.

To be the Devil's advocate...what about a 6" CZ Shadow 2 Target? I've never shot one, but I have a long slide CZ75 and I really like the longer sight radius. A Cajun Gun Works bushing on this bad boy and a few other mods and I am just "giddy". https://shadow2.czub.cz/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9crBT9hpM0

Those haven’t been ATF approved yet. Might be a while even if CZ intends to import them. That being said, I prefer the larger frame of the TS in a SAO pistol.

I noticed that model but can only imagine when they will finally be released.

Released is one thing. Getting it into the States is another matter. Takes a while

he says he's putting an optic on it and the longer sight radius to me on optic guns is just pointless. Never mind its availability.. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

They are showing up in the dealer portals as "Allocated' which can mean wait forever but it also means they will exist for the US market it seems. Just checked yesterday evening and they are there in both barrel lengths.

I hope you’re right about the Checkmate. Read about this. Really hope it happens.

Sorry for the confusion….the portals are showing the new Target 6” and 5” models. Nothing on a Chechmate.
