Had an email from Smith and Wesson this morning, announcing three classic models that are now offered without the internal lock. Models 10, 19 and 36. Enclosing a link to the 19... https://www.smith-wesson.com/p...sic-no-internal-lock ETA: This message has been edited. Last edited by: rat2306,

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
Cool. I'm still waiting for a No Lock Model 60 though.

Nature is healing. Maybe it's just me, but a model 10 with a lock just looks wrong.

It's about time, they need to get rid of all the locks. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Terrific news. In for a 66 when it makes it to the queue. I'm not diligent enough to take care of blueing, so no 19 for me.

S&W is now in Tenn. Looks like they are producing more no lock guns.

Ignored facts still exist |
So a friend bought a new Smith revolver. He tore out the innards and replaced all the MIM parts with aftermarket non-MIM parts. Now he feels like he has a real revolver. .

Who makes aftermarket non-MIM parts for S&W pistols? I don't know anything about the internals of the revolvers, so I'm curious about what might need replacing.

He probably means the trigger and hammer. Companies like Power Custom and TK Custom made hammers and triggers from bar stock and maybe a few other parts - not sure about all the innards. "Shohna ba Shohna - Shoulder to Shoulder"

That’s really good news S&W is starting to eliminate the lock - competition is a good thing - probably tired of getting monkey stomped in sales by all the awesome new Colt revolvers! "Shohna ba Shohna - Shoulder to Shoulder"

I think the revolvers are still Springfield, Mass.

You know, S&W has produced No Lock models before these. They were limited runs. They're not eliminating the lock.

MSRP for a Model 10 is $979. That's just dumb.

I started with nothing, and still have most of it ![]() |

And what is "dumb" about it? Have you looked at the price of a Ruger Blackhawk lately? Or a GP100? Or the prices of the new Colt revolvers?

Help a non revolver guy out. What’s this internal lock? I clicked the link in the OP and saw: “TRADITIONAL FRAME – No internal lock and solid frame design make this stand out as a classic revolver.” But that didn’t enlighten me. Don’t argue with fools.

I’m not sure I see the purpose or market for these. Old boomers like me that want these models will scour the Earth to find one that was made 50 years ago. New shooters really don’t give a shit about blued revolvers. Seems like they could’ve deleted the locks on some PC 8 shot 627’s, or other models already in production. Although I’m sure their marketing people are smarter than me
