The new model 36 with half moon front sight is cool. I’m not even a boomer and I’ll scour the earth for a vintage version. Scour is a bit harsh. If it’s at a gun show or one of my local shops that has good used selection I’ll strongly consider if at a good price. I have a 1/2 dozen j frame so don’t carry or shoot now so I don’t need one that badly.

Yes, I would sell body parts on eBay for a no lock 8 shot 627. I'd also love it if they brought back the Night Guard series of revolvers.

There’s another thread now about a car that might sell for $25 million(!!!). How will that vehicle transport someone to and from the grocery store any better than something costing 1/1000 as much? If someone buys one of these guns, it won’t be because he is seeking the least expensive option that goes Bang! when he pulls the trigger, and that’s true of probably 99% of all gun purchases. Not everything is purchased for their practical utility. If Colt can reintroduce the Python for no “practical” reason, it’s good to see S&W do something similar, and I’ll wish them success.

..and just when I was thinking of one of the 19s, S&W sends me another email about new products. Two new Mountain Gun configurations. And a large frame .357 with a long skinny barrel dubbed the Model 20. I feel the 629 tugging on my wallet...

They're not on the webpage yet, but the new 629 is no-lock. The Model 20 has one though. Be strong, Master Card; resist that Siren's call.....

As mentioned, the Mountain Gun is back! Lipsey's put the deal together. I've got a 629-5 Mountain Gun that I still cary often as a woods gun. I've had a 686-4 7 shot and a Mountain Gun barrel that I have meant to have a gunsmith put together for years. May have to rethink that...

The shallow scallop is needed to accommodate the lock mechanism. These don’t have that but it wouldn’t be practical to make a different frame. And yes, the older ones look better. I have one of the original 1989 Mountain Revolvers.

I’ve wanted a 686 mountain gun for 20 years. Never found one for sale. 7 shot and gold bead sight and nice grips is icing. Only thing better is if it was a square butt. But I’ll buy one of these for sure.

In the Lipsey's video he mentions that these two are the first to be released. 45 Colt would be cool as would a 41. No doubt 10MM will make an appearance too.

I’m not only intrigued by the Mountain Gun reappearance, but also that Tyler Gun Works is crafting a “Bear Hug Grip” for it.
As for future models, I hope that a .45ACP version might be in the plan.

I've wanted a Mountain Gun for years, and never was able to make it happen. That 686 is really calling me, but I like the 629 too. I'll probably get whichever one I can get ordered.
