Had an email from Smith and Wesson this morning, announcing three classic models that are now offered without the internal lock. Models 10, 19 and 36. Enclosing a link to the 19...
It's about time, they need to get rid of all the locks.

So a friend bought a new Smith revolver. He tore out the innards and replaced all the MIM parts with aftermarket non-MIM parts. Now he feels like he has a real revolver.

Who makes aftermarket non-MIM parts for S&W pistols? I don't know anything about the internals of the revolvers, so I'm curious about what might need replacing.
He probably means the trigger and hammer. Companies like Power Custom and TK Custom made hammers and triggers from bar stock and maybe a few other parts - not sure about all the innards.

That’s really good news S&W is starting to eliminate the lock - competition is a good thing - probably tired of getting monkey stomped in sales by all the awesome new Colt revolvers!

I’m not sure I see the purpose or market for these. Old boomers like me that want these models will scour the Earth to find one that was made 50 years ago. New shooters really don’t give a shit about blued revolvers. Seems like they could’ve deleted the locks on some PC 8 shot 627’s, or other models already in production. Although I’m sure their marketing people are smarter than me
