They revised the P6 feed ramp in 1989 to reliably feed HP ammo. But, obviously, there are folks with pre-89 P6s that have no issue with HP ammo, like Bill's gun. Q | |||

I would love to add a P225 to the collection. Tapped out on funds for the foreseeable future, so it will have to wait. I'm really happy with the guns I have, though. We are very fortunate to have the access we do to small arms in this country... for now at least. _______________ If anyone has any factory P239 .357 SIG +1 mag extensions, I need (5) of them. I had a P225 in the mid 2000s and carried it for a short while until I changed over to an HK P2000. One of the only classic Sigs that I sold off preferring the 228/226 as a better fit for my hands. I appreciate the offer, my goal is to know the difference between the P6 and P225 in order to choose the better one day. I thought I heard of HP feeding issues with the P6 which the forum members verified as a possibility depending on production dates. | |||

Other meaningful differences: The P6 has the hooked hammer, plus the DA trigger pull is much stiffer (than the already stiff P225). Those were made specifically with the LE community in mind. For most of us civilians, those unwanted features can easily be remedied. Q | |||

Just picked up my third one. Was suddenly bitten by the hammer fired guns, so added the new P6, a railed 220, and a 229-1 9 mm. Of all, the ‘83 P6 just calls to you. | |||

There is also a Swiss police variant that has the heel magazine release. The Swiss Police trade-in from the pic below was my first DA (in the middle, P6 on the bottom and a commercial P225 on top). I got it kinda on a whim, but I wound up really liking it. In addition to the great feel, it is super reliable! Then it began to multiply...  | |||

I picked up a new in box P225 from a member here with some extra mags. It’s a great gun and shoots well. At some point I’ll put some different sights, the Tritium has dimmed, and probably a trigger job. This one is marked Made in Germany and German Police Pistol though I think that’s just for marketing. Do not send me to a heaven where there are no dogs. Step Up or Stand Aside: Support the Troops ! Expectations are premeditated disappointments. | |||

I have a P6 which was a German police pistol. It fits my hand very well, and has proven to be quite accurate in training and informal competition. Grayguns worked on my P6 -- polishing the feed ramp, which allowed it to feed hollow point ammo without issues. Grayguns also changed the springs and performed an action job. The DA pull is much better, but still challenging. The SA pull is really quite good for a duty pistol. | |||

Other than some examples of the P6 showing finish wear the internals all appear to be in excellent condition. The German police P6 were well maintained and not fired much. The P-225 and P6 are perfect for CC purposes and proved their reliability and accuracy over 20 years with the German police. In my estimation the pick of the Sig litter. | |||

I bought four P6 pistols when Dan's Ammo had them for 259.00/ each with 3 mags. Should've grabbed a few more. | |||

I had a P6 20 or so years ago, back when you could get one for $300 and good shape. Loved the platform, but honestly it’s identical in size to a glock19 and mags were super spendy and half the capacity. I eventually moved on but kind of wish I still had that gun. | |||

What is the current best methods for improving the DA on these? I snagged several back when they were sub-$300. I swapped the mainspring on one or two, but was underwhelmed by the improvement back then. Haven’t shot them a ton in several years, but I’m always looking for a project to tinker, and would love to get these back out. What exactly makes the trigger heavier on these? It’s not just the spring, are the dimensions different on any pieces? | |||
