Was the P38K a “stepping stone” to the P5 or did that go down a separate development tree so to speak?

Well, Walther offers a pretty nice discount for veterans, so I placed an order. Their paperwork says 10-12 weeks, but I got an email today saying my items are in stock and will ship right away. We'll see. https://waltherarms.com/le

ETA: Wow, card charged yesterday. Got order confirmation today and a Fedex tracking number. Pretty good.

After the 1972 Munich Massacre, the West German Police Commission began soliciting for a new 9mm pistol. The P38-K, already in development, was morphed into the Walther P4. Certain characteristics of the P4 were incorporated into the pistol Walther developed and submitted for the West German Police Pistol Trials of the late 1970s and was adopted as the P5, along with the SIG-Sauer P225, which became the P6, and Heckler & Koch's PSP, which became the P7.

Very interesting. I knew about the P5, 6, 7 but had no idea about the P38K until fairly recently.

Thank you.
