While watching it rain yesterday, I was catching up on Sig news. Read a couple statements/rumors that Sig still produced the P239-357sig for US Air Marshall service. These statements/rumors claimed that Sig verified this info within the last couple days, and that individuals within the FAMS could pick the P239 option.
I have not read that anywhere else, and that info (if true), certainly flies in the face of the accepted rationale for why Sig stopped production of the P239, and its parts. This message has been edited. Last edited by: AKA T.S.,

Anything is possible, NOS parts lying around and they get a special request? S&W had quit producing their 3rd gens when they got a request from CHP for a run, they filled it and then shut down the line again.
But I'm with m.p.driver that it is certainly within the realm of possibility and I would put it into the realm of more likely than not. I was personally surprised that the FAM's went with the Sig P229 .357 Sig to begin with. Relatively speaking to the Glock 19 (my benchmark for evaluating all handguns) that this is big and heavy. Good luck trying to conceal it with anything less than a 36" waist.

My first thought is there are no real secrets and if Sig was still making P239s for anyone then it would leak out.
But then if Sig is really secretly still making these then that would be a good thing because as it seems ... law enforcement departments ALWAYS have to change up after a few years and then they end up then selling the old guns and then we get a chance to get them. I know two or three of my Sig P239's came from police departments.
To comment further... my benchmark for semi-auto pistols is the Sig P226. The p239 in my opinion is just a reduced version of the P226 with a single stack magazine. the innards all all designed the same as far as I can tell.
Having been the victim of SigLogic in the past, while it would be surprising, I certainly wouldn't be shocked.
It does sort of explain the off and on availability of Factory P239 magazines. If the P239 would have been entirely shutdown, wouldn't Sig have released MecGar to make and sell their branded version by now.
I guess that the supposed low demand/profitability of the P239, isn't a factor when Sigs largest customer places the order.
Money Talks..........

Jones probably has more up-to-date info, but up until the FAMs recent transition to the Gen5 Glock 19s, I know SIG still produced railless 229s in 357SIG for them. It would stand to reason that they'd still produce the 239 as well. (As I understood it, 239s were for agents with smaller hands and/or more an exception than "option".)
With the transition to Glocks, I doubt they are still producing them today.
The FAMS have completely moved away from the SIG platform and no longer maintain 357 SIG ammo.

Tracking production of discontinued Sig's is like tracking UFO's. I read the same article/piece as OP and it stated 229/357's and 239/357's. Go figure.

It makes you wonder why someone would claim having "talked to Sig", and recieved confirmation. And then up the ante by saying it was "two days ago".
It does show a definite interest in the platform, by classic Sig enthusiast. Just not enough to matter. Boy, does that sound familiar.

There used to be a member here who was a FAM. I recall him once saying that while both the 229 and 239 were authorized, most FAMS chose to carry the 229.

There have been 3 Air Marshals that I am aware of that have been members here. I’m sure there are/were more. I think you are probably referring to Slimcakes. I think he was medically retired from the service. There was another guy to whom I can’t remember his handle who was one of the “original 33” pre 9/11 Air Marshals. And there is a third that’s a current Air Marshal that posts here a few times a year. He never identifies where he works due to DHS policies but that’s what he does.
In the past, we used to have several feds on the board. A couple of FBI agents (one I know has since retired), a couple of ATF agents and a long time NCIS guy that back in the day was on Bill McRavens security detail.
I am following this thread with interest. 239 magazines for 40 or .357 and .40 barrels are impossible to find.
I heard somewhere that a 225 Magazine can be used but cannot verify. I also plan to reach to EFK and KKM to see if they can make a run the P239 barrels -- since SIG had, appeared to have abandoned P239.
Although this thread is giving me a slimmer of hope!
