I have owned a few P365 pistols over the years and wanted to love them but I couldn't, as they just didn't fit right in my hands. I've owned a couple others, an XL and a Spectre comp as well. I wanted to try it again as it is a great size pistol for ccw and shoots really well.

So, I got this pistol, well a nib standard P365 on a trade for another pistol I had, from a local ffl dealer. I took it to the range and had the same issue. So I bought the P365 XL kit from Sig and a Wilson Combat grip module to try it all over again. At the range, it just didn't fit me right.

After looking at the Icarus grip module, I was intrigued but the price put me off. I have heard other people stating it had a different feel and pointed more naturally for them. My local Bass Pro had one left in stock and I just wanted to put hands on it, to see if it would be a good fit and that was all it took. It was on sale and it also didn't hurt that if you had a B.P. credit card you get 10% off the price and another 10% for First Responder discount. I finally got it together and couldn't be more happy. Now to take it to the range for a test run.

Icarus grip module

When I first saw your post, I thought it was a wrap around the grip, but I see it's an entire lower replacement.

I'll be curious how that works for you. I have smaller hands so P365 fits my hand pretty well. That said, I'm always on the lookout for improvements.

Like you, I've struggled to make the P365 work for me. I can shoot them, it's just not a pleasant experience as the grip is too small and trigger reach is too short.

I've looked at some of the aftermarket grip options, but as you said the price is pretty steep. That and I just can't get over some of the goofy styling. What can possibly be the purpose of that weird-ass trigger guard, or the aggressive upward hook at the back of the beaver tail? I'm a utilitarian guy, and my styling preference is simple and understated. I'll allow some weirdness if it actually serves a purpose, but a lot of these aftermarket options (and I'm not just talking about the P365 stuff) just look like somebody's watched too much anime.

While being a bit visually different, to put it lightly, the grip module fits my hands much better than the Sig, Wilson or other modules I have tried. It looks kind of funky but the differences do serve a purpose.

The grip sits a little higher in my hand than the other polymer modules, which I like and the beaver tail does offer a good cover point as I have big mitts. Being that the grip sits higher, the beaver tail, while extravagant, prevents me from getting not only slide bite but a better secure hold on the frame. The hump is ugly in my opinion but does add to the grip and makes it very comfortable to hold onto in your hand. The trigger guard allows for a better/higher hold due to the higher relief areas although it is kind of debatable. I like the finger/thumb brakes/pads, in front of the slide take down lever although they are a little sharp in my opinion. Not that I carry a light on the gun but it allows for a standard light on the front with Picatinny rails, something I don't know why Sig doesn't have. The bottom of the grip has a mag well, you can't really see it but it is wider at the base and relieved in the front which surprised me as it offers a really nice feel/for my grip.

I really want to like, shoot and carry the P365 and I was leery about buying a grip module online and wanted to see how it fit me first. I searched to see if any retailer had them in stock by me and only Bass Pro had them. I thought the same thing as you, with all of it's flair but after holding it, I couldn't believe the difference in the way it felt all around in my hand. It just feels right. The price was a little off putting but with the Bass Pro discounts and it being on sale, it was only $240 otd. It was the last one left that they had, as the guys behind the counter had to look for it in the cases and back room. They said it is selling very well for them. Being aluminum it does not weigh very much and the texture is grippy but not overly aggressive, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, I definitely understand. I hemmed and hawed about paying the money for an AXG grip module for my P320s. It was expensive, but it definitely feels great in the hand and now I wish I could afford a couple more so that all of my 320s could have one.

That backstrap hump and the thumb pads do look like they would add functionality, and that does appeal to me. My biggest problem with the 365 is the short trigger reach and tiny grip that leaves no room for contact with my support hand, so anything that makes it bigger, especially longer front to back, would be a value add for me. I don't mind the idea of the beaver tail, either, I just can't wrap my head around that hook at the end. Same with the undercut trigger guard...I like those, I just don't understand the purpose of the two "bumps" with the textured area between them out in front of it at the bottom of the trigger guard.

patw will the Icarus fit the same holsters as the factory and wilson grips do?

I'm relatively happy with the wilson grips but wouldn't mind a little more to hold onto. I like 1911s with an arched mainspring housing, so the hump on the back of the Icarus might work for me.

After reading the OP I looked at the Icarus grip frames online. Yikes - pretty expensive. So, on Tuesday I was perusing one of the online exchange sites and I ran across the same grip frame for the 365 XL. Seller was maybe 5 miles away from me and wanted ammo in trade. I jumped on that deal immediately and picked it up yesterday. In one word - WOW. What an awesome grip. The hump pushes your hand up on the grip and it just fit perfect in my hand. Much better than the original Sig XL grip frame. Fired it today and was seriously impressed. Three of four other team members were equally impressed while the fourth felt it too small in his hand. The trade included two mag base plates. I am now searching for the X Macro version. I would post a pic but can't figure out how. Happy shooting.

Looks awesome!

I will forever be a P365 fan, I do have the unusual good fortune of having the X/XL grip module fit my hands perfectly.

The Wilson Combat 365x grip module really made the difference for me. I added the weights as well. There is so much to like about the P365.

How’s the texture for CCW? I keep looking at the aluminum grip modules for my P365XL I just haven’t taken the leap yet. I have the Wilson, but had to file the texture on the back. I’m looking hard at the Icarus grips and the Sharps Bros. I think I might prefer the slightly thicker Sharps Bros, but then it takes slightly away from ability to conceal.

Sadly no, at least in a kydex, due to the finger/thumb rests. They are a bit wider than other grips I have found,in a good way. The module might work in a leather holster but may cut into the leather.

The texture is actually very nice and while grippy, it is not sharp at all with the checkering.

I held the Sharp Brothers module but to me, it was like all of the other grip modules out there which didn't help me. They are nice, don't get me wrong but the angle is different on the Icarus.

I never thought I would get an Icarus due to the cost but it wasn't that bad after the discounts and it being on sale at Bass Pro.

Oh cool you got to handle both huh? That’s interesting to hear, makes me lean more Icarus. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to find a gun store here in CA that’ll have both to hold. I’m, also, not sure if I can even buy one online anymore with CA’s stupid new law banning purchasing certain parts online without a FFL, but I don’t know if a grip module falls under that bullshit…err law. That palm swell throws me, too. When I bought my P365XL it had a macro grip with a palm swell and thought it just felt weird in my hand. I never shot it so I can’t speak to that, but switched to the Wilson XL and it feels nice but little smaller than I want. That’s what had me interested in the Sharps, the slightly thicker grip. I don’t have big mitts, either.

Ah man some of the Icarus grip modules are on sale for $250 now. Not the EVO, but I think I’d be good with the PRO Elite in ODG Wink
