So, there is the X-VTAC, The X-Carry and the X-5 FS. What do these X-Series pistols have that the other non X-Series models to not, other than a flat trigger.

Are they any more shoot-able or accurate? Are they any more well made or hand built?

Just wondering it it's worth the price tag. Street price around here is $800.

I have shot the full size P320 X-Five briefly and was totally underwhelmed. Hate the grip. Trigger was mushy. Don't expect it to be anything special.

Then I'll save my money. Not sure why it's an X-Series then.

The X-5 I have shot, including a few matches, belongs to member C-Swimm, and I have the X-Vtac.

X-5 has a 5" heavier profile barrel, lightening cuts in the front of the slide and a fantastic set of sights. A dawson fiber front with adjustable, black rear sight and it's on a removable plate so you can install an optic on it. The frame has a weight in it for balance, and removable magwell. I have since switched both of my P320's to the fullsize X grip for the weight. The fire control unit is the same, albeit with the flat trigger. The x-5 comes with 21rd magazines

The X-vtac has a standard fullsize length slide and barrel, at 4.7", but is cut down in profile quite a bit for reduced weight. It has the carry size x-grip, but not with the removable weight of the X-5 grip. It also comes with the goofy VTAC double stacked sights, a set of fiber optic sights over a set of tritium, so they are halfway between a normal height sight and suppressor sights. I removed these for a set of dawson fiber front and black rear sights. The X-vtac comes with standard 17rd mags.

I think the x-5 is the best deal of the bunch, especially for the 21rd mags and ability to install a red dot (Just the Sig ones, but the Deltapoint fits with minor fitting and Dawson makes adapter plated for other optics)

The X5 320 is a nice pistol, and it is nice for what you get for the money.

Grip ergos and beaver tail give it a great feel.

IMO, it isn’t an X-Five, and doesn’t deserve the X-Five name.

I have a FS P320, a P320 X5 ( both have been to Robert Burke), and a P226 X5 Comp. Compared to the FS, the 320X5 shoots flatter and softer due to the barrel and the weight in the grip. Both trigger are Burke good so I can’t comment there. The mag well is nice. And yes, the West German X5 is a level above. That gun is magic.
I would pay the bit extra for the 320 X5 over a reg 320. Not only for the shooting dynamics but also you can shoot production, limited minor or carry optic as you want more easily than a reg FS.

I don't have a regular 320, but do have 2 x5's. I think they are great, but really only for competition. The trigger could be a little better, but for 800 bucks you get an incredibly accurate pistol, with a good trigger, the best sights, optics ready, and 4 21 round mags. Is it on the same level as a German x5? No, of course not. But SIG makes em and can call them anything they want. If you're a uspsa shooter or looking for a range toy, I think they are worth a look. I would prefer a bigger grip, but all in all I love mine.

No, not based on one comment. My response was truncated. It was, "well, if that is the case... I'll save my money". The operative, but I know, implicit, word was "if". However, this is not the first or only comment I've heard voicing the same opinion.

That's why I'm back for more comments. What is your opinion?

One argument in it's favor is that my FFL has two of them and after October 1, we will not be able to buy them with 20 round magazines. I bought a number of 20 round P320 mags with an eye to buying this gun as, after October 1, I will not be able to order them and my FFL will not be able to sell them to me due to new Vermont Legislation.

So, it's a limited time only commodity for me. Now or not at all with 20 round mags. However, I still want to hear what others have to say who own the gun. After all $800 is $800.

Picked up the P320 X5 specifically for competition in optics class, added a Romeo1. Previously had a FS P320 and didn't much like it - the X5 version is a completely different beast; I like the grip, which I didn't on the regular 320, 5" bull barrel, and extra heft give it an altogether different feel- one I personally prefer. Now that trigger, yes it is mushy and the only real nit I have to pick with the pistol. But it came with 4 mags, magwell, and a lightened slide also, works for me. I have an X5L1 too and no they're not in the same league, but then neither is their pricing.

Personally I think the P320 X5 version is very much worth the extra coin, especially if you're focusing on competition use.

SIGWolf, I've been asking myself that same question the past few months, regarding P320 FS vs P320 X5. I have both, and am making comparisons now.

My entry into the P320 arena started about 3 years ago with a used FS 9mm, which I upgraded with Dawson FO sights and an original PELT trigger. I used this pistol for two OpSpec training classes with J Jones last year, and it served me well. I am a casual shooter, honing my skills, with plans to compete locally in steel plate and pin shoots. I also have a P320 FS RX and a P320 FS 45. All have been to Sig for the drop fire upgrade. The original PELT has also now been traded in to GG for the PELT2.

In March I purchased a new P320 X5, and have been spending a little time with it at our range. My personal experience, nothing scientific or instructor-observed, is that I still feel more comfortable and shoot a little more accurately, with the older FS. That is likely just a matter of familiarity with the older pistol.

The X5 does have the features which should support better performance, and I expect the same from mine after I spend a little more time with it.

Last evening I swapped the FCU from the older FS into the X5. This older FCU now has about 4k rounds thru it and has the PELT2. Dry fire feels about the same, to be honest, and I hope to get to the range in the next day or so to test.

I am now registered for an OpSpec 3-day class in July, and am planning to use the X5, but will also have the FS as back-up. The next few weeks of prep should provide me more direction, and by the time that weekend is over I should be able to say which is better, at least for me.

It seems to me that the P320 X5 wasn't made as a replacement for the X-Five, but as an homage to it while the P210A is a replacement for the Euro P210.

I bought a P320xfive, and it has much less felt recoil, and muzzle jump, compared to a standard P320, but, still not as light as an M&P 2.0.
I installed a Gray Guns, competition trigger kit, which made the trigger acceptable, but, still not great for a competition gun.
I have to say that the P320xfive is the most accurate "plastic" gun I've ever shot.

I've owned a pair of P320 compacts (sold off) and currently own a P320 X-Carry and a P320 X-5. I love the X-Carry and X-5.

As others have stated the longer bull barrel and the weight in the grip really tame it's recoil. I have found it to be very accurate and the only real complaint I have is I wish the front sight was a little wider.

I've run everything from cheap FMJ's to Federal 9BPLE in it.

I'll echo RH45 and will say it is the most accurate "plastic" gun I've ever shot.

I think to compare the 320 X-Series is unfair to expect something as nice as a $2K - $3K 226 X Five.

It is still a polymer gun with some nice upgrades. I like the X-carry I own and shoot it well. I think it's got one of the best production triggers of any striker fired guns.
