I note that this model doesn't appear in the new 2022 catalog, so has it finally fallen by the wayside? https://www.sigsauer.com/catalog-2022

I better get on the ball That is one Sig that I have always wanted and just goofed around not getting one. At least I have a direction now. I wonder if any of the Gun Stores in VA has one. Hmm. This will also give me something to do during drill this weekend.

Wasn’t that the whole point of the name? That it was a contract through 2022??? Good gun though. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

I'm rather fond of mine; two mags, Siglite sights and a 9mm model for only $465 or so back when. Probably have more magazines for it than any other one that I own, too. Zero malfunctions.

I will never understand why SIG never pushed or marketed the 2022 (or it's predecessors the 2009 and 2340) harder. SIG Pros have some of the best factory DA/SA triggers out there. Not to mention they carry well, are relatively soft shooting, and just all-around fantastic pistol. With a little engineering tweaking, they could have had a true DA/SA Glock 19 competitor. (It's close to a 19 already, but not quite.) Once again, they were tone deaf to the market place. My first 2022 was the only pistol I ever regretted selling. Luckily, I rectified the situation. Great deals on Pros can still be had if you look around. One bitch about the Pro were those stupid lipped baseplates that would bite you if you weren't careful on reloads Luckily there are options (Springer Precision and Apex M&P Baseplates)

I believe the same topic came up in 2011 or so as they were transitioning production to Exeter. It's a nice pistol in Ilaflon.

The contract was for French Military/Police pistols through 2022. That is why the Sig Pro 2022 is called such vs the SP 2009/SP 2340's (originally not standard rail 9mm and .40/357SIG Pro's, Swiss Frames) It would make sense if all contracts are over to end production. The Sig Pro, while a fantastic pistol never seemed to sell well or for high prices. Would be a lot cooler if SIG came out a Red Dot Optic enabled SP20XX with an even better trigger etc. I can dream right? I see deals on SP2022/SP2009 in LGS all around me at times. I don't think they will dry up before anyone that is lamenting not having one could reasonably get one. Three very good to excellent condition SP2022's are at the LGS near me. If anyone can't find one in your area, I can direct you to LGS and I know they do transfers. PS SP2022 was purchased over a decade ago (German frame) and has an amazing trigger, imo the best of any SIG Classics and I know them all (have had all Classics P2XX series excepting the P224)

An absolute fantastic pistol. I have a Swiss framed 2022 in 9mm (the best model in my opinion as it pretty much is a hidden rail and looks so clean). Also have the standard 1913 rail model in .40. Added a threaded barrel to the 9mm and it is a great suppressor host. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Maybe Sig will buy back or trade out the French cop guns and bring them back to the US. Then sell them cheap. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

I had one. Very nice gun. Took it to a “lot of shooting class” and that little “tip” that sticks out of the front of the slide lock/ takedown lever chewed the hell out of my support hand thumb. Well, I couldn’t have that so I sold it. Dumb. Should have taken a Dremel to that “tip” and knocked it down. Would have probably been just fine.

I've been wondering about this too. Wouldn't surprise me if tens of thousands of LE trade-in SP2022s made it to the US market for cheap. Keep an eye on Aim Surplus, CDNN, etc.

I finally bought one this past year, for "practically free" $400 in CA (still on the roster, guys!). It looked like it had never been fired. It is intended as my bedside gun, with a Streamlight on the rail. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

The SP2022’s I’ve owned had always performed on par with their metal framed kin. A great value for a sub $500 pistol. ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

I swear I had something for this |
I never found a grip panel that was comfortable, and that stupid front cutout on the grip did cause a pinch several times at the range. If the gun fits your hand, you won’t find a better gun for the price.

I shoot my 2022 better than any full-size Sig I’ve owned, had numerous 226s, 228s and 229s, the 2022 just works for me. Sorry to see it go by the wayside
