Put a Nikon on the .44. The Ruger rings are rough! And it barely misses the rear sight. Will definitely replace them. Not sure if I’ll put a 2x on the Single Six.

Found both of these on an auction site. The gentleman had run a fun store for 50 years and decided to retire. These and several other models, many of which on in current production he had set aside for a personal collection of sorts. When he decided to sell everything I placed a max bid on them. Did really well on the Bisley. Probably overpaid by 100$ on the Single Six, but I wanted it. I’ll likely put a Bisley frame on it I recently purchased. They’ll both get free spin pawls and be good to go.

Bisley Hunter .44

Single Six (Convertible)

OP:
Bisley 10mm and 44mag needed friends. Should have these two shortly; both are new in box.

Sweet. I just shot a Ruger Bisley for the first time and they are great with hot cartridges.

BOTH are the best crafted pistol I have ever fired.

I don’t have them yet but if I’ve learned anything from our forum friend it’s that every pistol is the best one ever crafted.

I love the hunter versions. My eyes aren't what they used to be, and I need a scope if I'm going to hunt with a pistol.

I pretty much shot .22lr exclusively when I shot. Always wanted a single six hunter with the bisely grip. Nice additions to your collection.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

Does the scope have to be that far back in the rings due to eye relief? I’ve never had an actual pistol scope before, never even shot one.

I love Ruger revolvers. They might be my favorite, maybe, tough call.

If it shows well enough on the top picture, the scallops in the rib on top of the barrel are the only places to put rings.

So I COULD move the scope forward about 1/2”. It’s more or less placed to test fit and clearance to rear sight. It’ll likely move a bit if I Decide to keep it on. Though at this point I’m more leaning toward a red dot.

Oh I think a red dot is the way to go at pistol ranges. I asked the question wrong. I know where the scope rings go on the Hunter. It just seems like the scope is way far back in those rings. I imagine it is due to eye relief issues correct?

If the scope body was move 3/4 of an inch forward wouldn’t it clear the rear sight?

I might have this all wrong though. Nice gun either way.

Looking again that scope’s dimensions do seem problematic. If you move it forward it is close to the turret. I suspect the red dot is the best choice. If you went red dot what would you choose and how do you mount it? Old school tube type in rings? I got one of those in a gun purchase. Burris maybe. Worked great just shitty battery life and odd in today’s world. Completely functional however.

You’re spot on Pcola.

If I move it all the way to the turret then the eyepiece, because it’s slightly tapered, touches the rear sight. I suppose I could just remove the rear sight also.

I was thinking an old school ultradot or similar. Like the one you mentioned.

There are mounts for newer style handgun red dots, I simply haven’t explored them much.

I could also get taller rings and easily remedy it. Gonna shoot it some and decide which direction to go.
