My 320 has a Trijicon RMR and it’s a fine setup. I got a Glock 19 COA awhile back and it made me realize how much I dislike having taller sights on the 320.
I then watched a few of the new Glock Gen6 videos and really don’t like the taller sights.
I have a Glock 17 MOS with no dot currently. Would like a dot but don’t want taller sights.
365 will likely get a dot.

I also see myself picking up a Gen6 17 and 19 and swapping slides and likely putting dots on those.

I really like my COA but it seems that little Glock/Aimpoint experiment is going by the wayside.

So just looking for options.

Sig Romeo X works with standard height irons on the P320 (and my P229). The Glock version of the Holosun SCS does not require supressor-height sights on the MOS guns.

I'm sure there are more but those are the two I can think of off the top of my head.

I don’t have the Glock holosun scs but I have the Walther version. I like it and I agree normal height sights are the way to go if you have a choice.

Hard question because the depth of the cut will also have an impact on the height of the sights needed to co-witness. My Shadow Systems MR920 co-witnesses with standard sights with an RMR and my P365 XL co-witnesses with a Holosun 407K. It will be interesting to see how the Gen 6 cuts are actually done.

I have a cut slide on my G45 and it cowitnesses an RMR with standard height irons. I think James Reeves said in his video that the cut was a fair bit lower than the MOS and could possibly mount optics without the polymer insert. I'm optimistic either way. Glock has to know people don't all want to have to use suppressor height sights.

The open emitter SCS that is designed around specific pistols, such as the Glock model is a great option. I've been running one on a G45 for years and I've been very happy with it. It is the only optic I've run that feels like its part of the pistol vs. an addition to it. Iron sights are completely useable.

Now when I say running one I don't mean THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of rounds nor do I mean I beat the living snot out of it. I use it as a normal low speed high drag dude would. It has been shot, carried had a bump or two here and there but not put through hard use like in and out of a cruiser etc. That said I am super happy with it on my G45.

Not the best picture as I just cropped it from it laying on a work bench/cabinet but it does show the stock rear Glock sight and just how low the SCS sits.

I have the SCS on a G20 and a PDP. Both guns OEM sights work fine with the SCS.

Don’t know anyone but me here that uses it but the Deltapoint micro will ghost ring the stock front sight.

Yet, in the couple videos I have seen so far all the guns with optics have had taller sights.

As a mid point, I just put a set of Night Fision optic ready sights on my 43x. They are the 290-297 height set. Kinda like the midpoint between regular Trijicons and the suppressor height ones.

I haven’t had them to the range yet, but they provide a nice 1/3 co-witness with my EPS Carry without feeling “too tall”.

This.

I have a Holosun MOS SCS on my duty G45. It's been fantastic.

No tall sights. No janky mounting plate. Looks and feels like a factory part of the gun.

And while I was initially skeptical of the SCS's auto-adjust-only brightness, I have yet to encounter any situation in which it wasn't dialed in perfectly, in bright daylight, darkness, using handheld or weapon mounted lights, etc.

The only potential con is that it's an open emitter if that is important to you, though I suspect Holosun may come out with a closed version at some point, since some of their other SCS models (like for the P320) are closed.

The majority of RMSC or Holosun K optics won't need taller sights. Check out Freedom Gorilla in YouTube. They'll show you the co-witness of all major guns and major optic brands.

No battery on that SCS worries me a bit

There is technically a battery. It’s just not user replaceable.

My thought process is this. I have consumer electronics a decade or more old that still hold a charge. Even if we discount the fact that a decade from now optics tech will likely have advanced let’s assume the internal charge capacity degrades SUBSTANTIALLY. Even if it degrades to the point where it needs to be “charged” weekly to last say a month it’s still a viable optic and will work in lighted conditions so worst case you have an “end of the world” optic better then basic irons theoretically. (I am being dramatic of course).

The reality is if I get a decade out of it mine cost about double a set of Trijicon HDs whose tritium will be waning after a decade and in that decade the SCS makes for a far better sighting solution.

Truth be told I was Leary of it as well and it’s been sort of an experiment for me. So far I’m completely satisfied with it.

Just to clarify, by “charge” I mean put the optic under direct sunlight or powerful lamp every once in a while for a little while since mine lives in a dark safe. Doing this a couple times a year for a few hours gives me piece of mind. I’ve never had it indicate a low battery or flicker or fail in any way………….which of course means the next time I pull it out it will be dead. Razz.

I just picked up an SCS to put on the gen5 g20 I just bought, after my commie WA. State 10 working day waiting period.
They say 20,000 hour reserve, so with some charging I’m hoping I’ll never have to worry about it.

The SCS has an internal rechargeable battery with an estimated decade of life before it starts to degrade.

In a decade there will be significantly better handgun optic options, so it'll be due for an upgrade anyway.

And if it were to fail before that decade, it has a 10 year warranty.

So I'm not worried about it.

(Are you worried about having to replace night sights every 5-10 years? Sure it's ~3x the cost of a set of night sights, but it's also 3x better than iron sights, so... Wink )

Just never really come across small solar powered stuff that actually ends up working long.

I have a Casio solar watch that I've worn as my duty watch for 20 years, and it's still going strong. And that's with two decades of rough use and all weather exposure. And using two decade old solar battery technology.

I have four of the SCS on Glocks and one on a CZ P-10C and I've been very happy with them. Aaron Cowan (Sage Dynamics) beat the piss out of the SCS so I don't have to; his favorable review led to my first purchase of one. That experience led to me buying more.
