I’ve had an original 2” since they first came out. Great gun. Handles magnums like a champ. Great trigger. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

I am too inept to post pics on this forum, but I have the Badger SP-101 full grips on my 3 1&16 inch SP-101 and they make shooting my preferred medium velocity 135-148 grain .357 loadings pretty comfortable.

I really like the look of the badger grips. It looks to me like they also have a little more exaggerated grip angle which seems like it would manage recoil more than the more vertical angle of the hogue.

Nice catch. Ruger really did a number on these and I mean they did a great job. Giving the pistol real sights was the best thing they could do.

I had a 3" stainless in .327 but ended up selling it because I simply couldn't shoot the danged thing! Something about it just didn't "feel right" once I got it on the range, and after quite a few trips it was apparent that the SP101 just wasn't for me. It didn't help anything that ammo was almost non-existent at the time either; not .327 FedMag, .32 Long Colt... nothing! _____________________________ Bill R. North Alabama

It's all part of the adventure... |
I have 3 SP-101s: - 2 1/4” in .357 Mag - 4” in .22LR (Gen 1) - 4” in .327 Mag The first two were my Dad’s; the .357 was his EDC that I inherited when he passed in 2008. The .22LR he had given me back in the late ‘90’s. The .327 I purchased because I wanted a .327 for the versatility. The .357 I sent off to Gemini Customs for absolutely amazing custom work (aesthetic and action) in tribute to my Father. Also Hogue replaced a cracked grip at no charge which is a testament to their amazing customer care. The .327 is a good shooter, But I have only taken it to the range once or twice. I wish I had gotten the 3” version, though. The .22 is a delight to shoot. It’s a Gen 1 with the full, heavy under lug on the barrel, so the weight of the barrel makes it feel as though you’re shooting a BB gun. I taught my daughters how to shoot with it back when they were young; they’re on either side of 30 years old now. One still shoots, the other has zero interest. Anyway, SP-101’s are fantastic revolvers, and I know you’ll enjoy yours for many years. Timely post. I just picked up a 101 2.25" in 9mm. I'm having more fun shooting it out back from 3 to 100 yards than I have in awhile! I have a bunch of moon clips for it but shoot it with out them and the cases eject just as easily as my S&w 640 ejecting 38's.

Nice find. I imagine the 9mm is a good shooter and hard to come by.

I would definitely like to see a few more pics of your rookie effort here. The one in your O/P I couldn't get to magnify. It defaults to the pic of the gun, itself.

I can't figure out how to post pics any larger. Here's some links to the photos. The lighting in the last picture makes it look more orange than it is. I was experementing with olive oil stain on this holster and thought it turned out okay but found it odd that every piece of leather from the same hide turned out a little different color. https://i.postimg.cc/LXKYqTjr/20240207-221823.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/BbJjpnYp/20240207-221835.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/G2b2s1sJ/20240119-100655.jpgThis message has been edited.
