What’s funny, and I say this knowing strikers are the way forward if you will, is that I try to holster and carry a striker and I desperately miss my hammer. I am not an old guy either (get off my lawn). There is something about DA/SA that does it for me. I cut me teeth on SIGs and DA revolvers so that is a big part of it for me. Every now and again I try to migrate back to Glocks and I find myself missing the hammer. I miss the safety of riding the hammer on holstering, I miss the heavy deliberate first shot, I miss being able to thumb back a hammer into single action(it’s my fantasy world dammit lemme roll with it ). I miss knowing that I can clean gunk out of the hammer path easier then I can clear it from a striker channel. I like disassembly without a trigger pull. At the end of the day I miss the administration safety afforded by a DA first pull. Now please don’t think any of this is me saying YOU ARE A DAMN IDJIT FOR........ that’s not it. It’s only about my personal comfort zones, training and experience in my scant 44 years on this rock. NOW GET OFF MY DAMN LAWN!! "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

I love hammer fired DA/SA! All the reasons cslinger mentioned ('cept the thumb the hammer part), plus I like the simplicity of no safety added to the extra leeway the DA pull provides under high stress, then every shot is SA. Every action type is good....provided the user trains properly and enough. I agree there is no real equivalent to the G19. Though I don't own and shoot them, it is the most recommended gun I steer newbies towards. I love carrying my P6, but the G19 I think is a touch smaller in every dimension, esp. weight, and has nearly double the payload. I'd keep it classy with a P228 for the G19 DA/SA "equivalent", it's close. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

Same, same. I tried, twice, to make Glocks stick. Once I got my set of hammers back I haven’t thought about another pistol purchase since. Hammers and DA/SA are home. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

The Beretta 92 Compact or Centurion get my vote as a DA/SA option in lieu of the Glock 19. In my case I prefer the Glock 17 instead of the Glock 19 and my Centurion is a pretty decent match to the G17 size. The Compact matches the G19 pretty well but the flush magazines are a couple of rounds short in the original style. Keep your weapon handy, live free and prosper.

While I like my Gen 5 Glock 19 it does not feel as solid in my hand as my two tone 9mm 229. Same capacity if I use MecGars (and I do). A little heavier and bigger. But not much, and softer shooting. The Sigs just don't jump around like the lighter Glocks do. Once I get around to getting my beat up 228 refinished and get new night sights it will replace the 229 as my EDC.
