I don't necessarily want one t9 carry everyday, unless that model is the best one overall. I would prefer something around the $1200 or less range. My favorite platform is 1911 and I have a Sig along with several others. Looking to expand my 9mm collection so my preference is Stainless Steel but everything Sid that's stainless is $2200 and up, I haven't convinced myself to pay that much for a single weapon. So what in your opinions is the best Sig in 9mm for the price, would prefer great feeling trigger, very accurate, feels great in your hand, that sort of thing. If the $2200 ones are the very best let me know I may eventually get there, we'll see. Thanks in advance.

The closest thing to your requirements: a used P226 Stainless Elite.

I would say P226 SAO also. Not for everyone.i do not leave a round in chamber, never would use the DA anyway.
But the P226 will ever be a collectors gun. Even the SAO. The X5 models will be. But you will need 2400.00.
Keep eyes open for a P210A. Found a NIB Standard at local LGS about two months ago for 1250.00. Never wanted a Standard. Figured the grips and sights are better on Target. But the Standard shoots just as well as my Target. Think I like the grips better on the Standard.
The P210A will be a collectors item. They have not made many of them. Not much demand for a high priced 9mm that holds eight rounds.
Armory Craft had the parts to make it to 10 rounds.
The LGS had the P210A Standard in a safe. Saw it in an ad on sale. Had to call and a counter guy called back an hour later saying he found it.
Think it already is a collectors item . The list has gone from 1600 to 2200 on the P210A Target model this year. Only model they make now.
With the military orders low volume guns do not stand a Chance.

Check out the 9mm 1911 market sometime. You may change your mind.

I’d probably go 229ST/ Stainless elite or 229Sport as I view it as the jack of all trades. The 229 in my hand feels surgical accurate.

That was my suggestion too from the comment about liking 1911s. I know the P226 SAO is not much like a 1911 except for the single action only, but in my limited opinion (and I'm even willing to be scolded for it) I think a P226 in single action only is a better pistol than a 1911.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm still looking and learning, but I'm leaning toward the P226 Legion especially since I'm having a hard time finding anyone that has anything negative to say about it. But that statement rings true about the majority of Sig Sauer weapons. Grabagun just dropped the price on the P226 Legion from $1200 to $950 so that is pulling me that direction also. Watched a great comparison between the P226 Legion and Elite, the guy loved them both but at the end said he didn't see $200 worth of difference so go with the Elite. Now that gap is gone. Thanks again for the input and opinions.

I'd agree that some form of P226 captures Sig's best. If you like SA triggers and are used to manual safeties on 1911s, a Legion SAO may work well for you.

I seriously wouldn't give a whole lot of thought to "passing it on" in 30 years to some grandchildren who don't yet exist. We have no idea what interests our unborn grandchildren might have or the legal hoops that might be involved in firearms transfers in 30 years. Buy what you like.

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

I would suggest you find a model YOU like to shoot & carry. I say that because you have to have a model that fits your hand and you feel comfortable with.
I wear XL gloves (large hands) but the 226 & 228 feel too big to me. I much prefer the 239 models, followed by the 320c.
Once you find your choice get a duplicate or 2.

Once you have YOUR gun you will be much more likely to share the shooting experience with family members.

But in this day and age don't be surprised if your (yet to be born) grandchildren really don't take a shine to your passion of shooting or your choice of firearms.

Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

BigSwede raises a good point.

Do you want an all shiny stainless steel (slide, barrell and gripframe) model?

Most of the current production non-polymer guns are Stainless Steel Slides with black Nitron finish on a hard coated alloy frame.
An all shiny stainless steel model has a higher price tag.

Either a P239 or P228 with the original Non SRT trigger. Once you spend time with either you'll understand there was a time when Sig built pistols with triggers that broke as cleanly as a S&W revolver in single action. You will also come to the conclusion that Rails are pretty damned ugly appendages to hang on a pistol.

I've stopped counting.

Nobody has said this, but go with a P226Smile I have a Legion, and it is the first pistol I have bought that doesn't need anything changed on it. Factory perfect! I also have one in a P229, but would like to trade it for a West German P226.

Get what YOU want. Then, someday, they will be glad Grampy gave them his favorite. If you try to guess what the unborn is going to love...good luck.

If you’re looking for a legacy, hand-me-down gun, look at the classics: P220, 226, 228 or 229. A Mk25 has a special heritage of being a Navy SEALs gun and was almost the general issue service pistol, save that the Beretta was cheaper.

”Yeah, that's easy for your to say, you're Mr. White. You have a cool-sounding name. Alright look, if it's no big deal to be Mr. Pink, do you wanna trade?”

This. They're going to bury me with my P226.
