Looking to see what options are out there for a super lightweight revolver to carry Special or +P rounds. Impressed with the 340pd/360pd, but curious if there's something lighter since no plan to feed .357.

I believe you'll find that the two revolvers you listed are the lightest available. At one time, I had a 337PD .38 Airlight Ti (no longer available) which was maybe one ounce lighter. I now have a 360PD, which weighs about 11 oz empty, or 14.2 oz loaded with Speer 135 gr. Short Barrel +P .38 rounds. I'm currently carrying the Speer 135 gr. Short Barrel .357 rounds. Recoil is fairly stout, a bit more than the similar .38 rounds, but shootable.

I have the 340PD, been just fine. The most I go is 38 +P. I do Handload, so I can go lite 357 if desired, haven’t.

Can’t imagine going lighter than the 340PD unless you drop in chambering. It truly is a g7n you can forget you’re carrying.

The 340 is a great gun and perfect size for carry. The only downside for me was the grip, as it is a little too small to get a firm purchase on but that was easily corrected.

I have Smith 642. Super light if you don’t need .357.
Can shoot +P and I have. Not sure I would want anything lighter.

I am not recoil sensitive but .357 mag through those super light Scandium Smith Hand gren.....errr I mean J-Frames is.....unpleasant.

My only is a blued S&W 13. Quite a boat anchor.

I believe the 342PD , the original .38 only version made for a short period, it was the black frame one with titanium cylinder was listed at 10.8 oz. I still have and carry the original one that started the whole titanium era which was the silver 342 Airlite Ti in .38 and it is listed at 11 oz. The PD came out after and had the red ramp sight and a couple strategic "scalloped" areas that it's predecessor the Ti did not. It apparently resulted in a slightly lighter weight. In .38 both are spectacular carry revolvers and are perfectly shootable.
The lightweight .357 insanity started later and while great carry guns I think it's very tough to shoot .357 they then and wouldnt.
As far as lightest current production i think your talking the 351PD .22 Mag and the hammerless version which I think still come in at just under 11 oz. Unloaded

I'd go with what Longjohn said above, the S&W 342PD at 10.5 ounces. I bought one in 2004 and carry it in either a cross draw or pocket holster. It feels like it's made of balsa wood! I carry the Speer 135 grain .38 Special +P Gold Dots and practice with my +P reloads - very shootable. I have no interest in .357 Magnum in this weight revolver.

I believe the 340PD is it. Even in +P, it's not particularly enjoyable to shoot.

I have the 340m&p and can easily shoot 5 rounds of Speer gold dot short barrel 357s out of it. 38+P is even easier, love that gun.

Take a look at those ruger lcr's.

I often carry an Airlite Titanium 340 which is at 10.5 oz (from memory). I don't know what might be any lighter. As noted in a previous post, it is no longer available and pretty expensive if you can find one. My buddies are lined up for mine if I ever decide to let it go ... which is highly unlikely. It is a scandium frame and a titanium cylinder IIRC.

I'll second all the above. My 340PD isn't all that bad, even with 38+P. But, I've never gotten through more than two full cylinders of 357 at any one time.

I'll third the above. I pocket carry my 340PD with the Gold Dot .38 Special 135 gr +P .

I'm number 8,000,000 for the 340PD. Mine is great and super light weight I'm not sure you'll find any current production J-frames any lighter.

I had several air lights including a titanium cylinder one, but I've sold the off and started carrying a Model 60 in 357. With a good belt and a Kydex IWB holster, it's as easy to carry but MUCH easier to shoot. I'm currently looking for a good LCR holster for my 327 Fed Magnum.

I'll add another vote for the 342PD. Super light!

Some of those older Charters are around 11oz, IIRC. IF you wanted to be more frugal in your search, LOL.
