Why is it that it seems that just about every seller, independent or business, on GunBroker that is selling a used SIG 229 Legion is selling it with only two mags? What in the world are they doing with the third mag?

Uh, selling it separately? Why give the mags away? They add little to the price of a used gun.

It just kind of pisses me off to see people take away something that was originally supplied with the gun. I remember hearing stories about dealers taking the third magazine away from new Glocks when Glock started supplying three instead of two. The dealers were kind of hoping that no one would notice, but we were not fooled. Like I said, the Legion comes with three magazines. You should be selling it to me with three magazines. This message has been edited. Last edited by: kp352g,

If they were selling it as new, yes, they should include what came with it from the factory. Used...why should they? You're buying a used gun. Maybe they have other p229s and are using the other mags with that gun. Or maybe they are selling them separately to make additional profit. As long as they disclose to the seller how many mags come with the used gun, I don't see the issue.

Hell, maybe the dealer only got the pistol with two mags. Hell, maybe the original owner got cheated out of a mag when they bought it NIB. ---------------------------------------- Death smiles at us all. Be sure you smile back.

this, as a FFL that does a lot of estates and such, not every firearm I buy comes with the original accessories, or even the factory case or box, the extras may have been loaned, sold, broke, stolen, left in the vehicle, whatever,,, we may never know https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

Just bought a new Colt 1911 from lowest priced seller I could find. This seller did not say how many magazines but all other sellers listed two. Sure enough, it came with only one magazine. And, a pen with seller name was inside the Colt case. Any bets they took out the magazine and put in the pen?

was it listed for sale with 2 or 3 mags?

AFAIK, all new Colt 1911s come with only one magazine. And at one time the local Gouger Mountain was selling wore out overseas P226s with no magazines. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Years ago I bought a NIB CZ75 pistol. From the factory it came with two mags but every boxed pistol had only one mag. Being NJ beggars can't be choosers so I bought it but I was still PO'd. Nothing ever changes. La Dolce Vita

When I bought my P229 Dark Elite NIB (8-9 years ago), it came with one mag and a coupon for another. This was back when Sig and its suppliers couldn't keep up with the demand.

Nonsense. Used guns come with what the seller wants to include. Buy or don’t, but don’t act like you’re getting hosed because you’re buying a used gun for used gun prices that doesn’t come with all the factory-new accessories. ______________________________________________ “There are plenty of good reasons for fighting, but no good reason ever to hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty Himself hates with you, too.”

Yep. Used guns come with whatever the seller wants to include. When I worked at a shop, if we got in a pistol with 4 mags and a holster, the gun usually sold with 2 mags. The holster and 2 other mags went out of the floor for sale. Sometimes, you gotta roll the hard six

OP still doesn't get it. It's NOT a factory new gun. You would have a case, if it was a new gun with the supposed 3 mags, or if seller said 3 mags in the auction but only shipped you 2 mags. Otherwise, get on with life. Q

Used is used. Seller advertises X product for $XYZ price. Like it? Buy it. If not, don't. Honestly, when it comes to selling used firearms, the first lesson people who don't want to lose money is sell accessories separately. When I sell a used handgun, it comes with 2 magazines. Period, dot. Everything else is parted out for maximum profit or fund redemption. Extra mags, grips, etc, etc. Heck, I had a guy trade for a G19 of mine - I hadn't advertised the (-) connector and smooth trigger, maritime cups, grip plug, etc. So I swapped them all out for the original OEM stuff as he tried to drive the deal more in his favor. This message has been edited. For maybe the last year I've noticed the used guns I've been looking at typically have one mag. I've also seen far more pistols with no boxes, especially the older Sig boxes and any Colt boxes. Then the shocker, I saw an HK45 full size with five mags, box, manual and lock for sale as one package. * * * * * * * High capacity is not an acceptable substitute for good marksmanship.

I think that if you want a gun with all the items it came with new, then you have to buy the gun new. Otherwise you are bidding on what is listed, gun, mags, sights, etc... “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I kinda understand the OP's heartburn, even if the gun is used. I feel some empathy. If I sell a gun that came with 3 magazines, I always include all 3. It feels wrong if I don't, so I can understand a little why he feels the way he does. At my favorite LGS, if someone sells them a used pistol with 3 mags, the first thing the owner, who is my friend, will do is mark the gun up hundred$ above what he paid for it and take out one of the mags and throw it in the used mag pile after listing it for $25.00. But, it's his gun now, and he can do with it as he pleases. Plus, the idea is to make money, so if my LGS does that often enough, it could run into some serious coin earnings, so I also understand his position, too. I guess the moral of the story is: It's a used gun (buyer beware).

Maybe we need a department of "Used Gun Sales and Fairness"? You can sell a used gun with the correct number of magazines, or you can file an exemption to be allowed to sell with less than is deemed 'appropriate'. Or a new law, the "Used Gun Sales Requirements Act of 2019"? It can set pricing, accessory requirements, and the like. YGTBM, all over 1 measly magazine or a gun shop trying to turn a measly $100 profit on a used gun, which may sit for weeks / months, not to mention the overhead for the shop, FFL, etc, etc.
