I finally got my Stoeger STR-9 today. I won’t get a chance to shoot it for 2 weeks due to my travel schedule. My initial impression is the gun is better than expected. I paid $199-$50 rebate. $210 all in with shipping and FFL fee. It feels like a solid gun. The magazine is made in Italy but looks like my 3rd generation S&W .9 mags. It’s metal and well built. The loader is very thin and cheap. It came in a cardboard box. It also came with a hard plastic holster. I have no opinion on the holster at this point other than I would not pay for it.
Gun is heavier than my HK VP9 but not too heavy. I have not oiled it yet but the slide is harder to rack than my other semi autos.
Honestly, I’m impressed with it. I never thought a descent gun could be purchased at this price. If it shoots reasonably well it will be an awesome buy. It’s not going to diminish my love for Sig and HKs but definitely worthy. If I could figure out how to upload pics I would.

You’re going to like it. It’s a solid buy, particularly for the price.

A number of our guys got them as rewards for "pimping" them when we got in the initial batches from Benelli. I chose to abstain from that 'program' (I despise Stoeger's shoddy Turkish history making shotguns) and of course caught a rash of crap from the rep. But I got to try one at the range after the fact, and I have to admit that it seems to be a pretty decent pistol. Then again it probably should be, considering it clones so many of the key parts off of a Glock.

Yeah it's basically a Gen 3 Glock internally. With better ergos and looks and trigger.

I finally got to the range with the new Stoeger today. I put about 200 rounds through it and 200 through my HK VP9. Some thoughts:
The grips are a little thinner than my med ones on the HK. Not as comfy but just fine. I was surprised at how good it felt to shoot. Very smooth with comparable kickback. I like the mags better than my HK mags as they are easier to load by hand. No tool needed. I expected this as they are the same on my Gen 3 S&Ws. I was not as accurate with it as my HK. Like all guns it’s more accurate than me. I think the rear sights just need some getting used to as I got better as I progressed. Overall I think my HK is a bit nicer and smoother but this gun really surprised me. I got it new for $150 and I would put it up there with any Glock or equivalently priced weapon. It does not feel like a cheap gun in any way. Let’s see how it does after a few thousand rounds though. I’m going to need a few spare mags now as it came with only 1.

I’m resurrecting this old thread because I saw the STR9SC for $199 at PSA and bought it. I put 100 rounds through it yesterday. It’s a nice gun. I’m still floored by the quality for the low price. Of course it arrived in the same cardboard box as my other STR9. One mag came with it. It fired flawlessly with the 3 mags from the STR. I really like the sights on these. I really feel little difference between the Ruger RXM, Glock and these Stoegers. It’s a pretty bland but solid/reliable gun. I wish it had a 2nd magazine and a case but for the price, I totally understand. I have a few cases lying around
And found it a nice home.i don’t think I’ll buy another magazine as the other ones I have work with it. For the range they will suffice.

Where did you film the shooting portion? Please say that’s at your house.

Thanks for the video. It’s funny but I thought it was top heavy compared to the Glock as well. They STR9SC really feels even more top heavy. I have always stayed away from anything but S&W, Sig, HK, Colt or Ruger. I only bought the 1st STR9 because I got it for $150. I was impressed with it after shooting it a few times. I saw the Sub Compact at a Rural King in PA a few weeks ago for $247. Had I been in my home state, I would have bought it. I saw it on PSA for $199 last week. For that price, it had to come home with me. I now have 2 STR9s and I paid $350 for both combined. I think they are good additions and shoot as well as any other Striker Fired pistol I have. The only downside is probably the resale value. I never sell a gun so that does not impact me or bother me. My son liked the Ruger RXM with the COA I got a few weeks ago. He wants to put an optic on the STR. I do not alter my pistols but in this case, I am fine with it.

I’ve got the full size STR, it’s my beater car gun. Very accurate and 100% reliable with solid typical trigger 5.5 lbs.
