I sharpened the tip to a pin point.
Outlined the area on the frame.
Cut a shallow"V" groove over the outline and stippled up to the groove.

I also do not want an aggressive texture on my CCWs so I went with something that looks more like Velcro.
Still gives moisture someplace to go if your hands are wet and enough grip to secure the pistol but it doesn't tear up my clothes or hands.

A little time consuming but it's what I prefer

I have bought a few things from The Glockstore as they had the parts I needed. Lenny has a good business and seems like a nice-genuine guy. I like his videos and think he is a good businessman, especially having to deal with the state of Commifornia. I am not crazy about the gold coating on the pistols but can appreciate the time/effort that went into them. Amazing at what Frank Beard looks like without the signature glasses.

Cool! Where did you get the frame? Can't find one anywhere and I'd like to build one like that someday.

FWIW, I could have titled it You will customize your Salient BLU-C, but that wouldn't have been anywhere near as much fun would it! Big Grin

When you change out the frame, it's no longer a Glock. If you don't believe me- well, what did it say on the 4473 for the frame?

G17 has all kinds of internal work in addition to what you see, including guide rod, barrel, trigger, plunger, etc.

The G19 was built for CCW, and is internally stock.

This G17, is also far from stock.

There sure is a debate about custom Glocks. I have a lot of pistols. I have stock Glocks, in addition to these three.

I've taken many 1-2 day training classes with Glocks, including the custom G19 pictured above, which has some honest Kydex wear on it.

First and foremost, the custom Glocks are fun for me. Mine are true custom, walk into a shop, talk to folks, pencil out some mill work, then work with the mill guy, fine tune it, etc. These are "my" Glocks. Not something picked out of a catalog, or a slide design I chose off some well known Glocksmith's website. They're a lot of fun, much like working with a custom house on a custom 1911 build.

Are they "better"? Well, obviously sights are a must for most Glock shooters, but I find the frame work to really improve ergonomics. The rest of it... well, it's fun, like I said.

Waste of money? It's my money, I earned it, and I don't feel the least bit bad. So, for me, the answer is "no". Could you have "xyz" factory pistol for the same price? Sure, but if I want it, chances are, I already own it. My daily carry is a Springfield Professional, when the weather's cool. I train with that too, and it also has honest kydex wear.

My experience boils down to this - they are cool, fun to put together, I like custom Glocks. They aren't really quantifiably "better" than a stock Glock with some good sights and a well trained shooter. Remember, I spent a decade or more carrying a stock G19 and taking multiple pistol classes with a stock G19 before I ever thought about modifying a Glock beyond upgrading the sights.

Would I recommend a new pistol shooter run out and spend $2500 on a custom G17 with an RMR on top of it? No. It's the niche pistol in a collection, for me anyway. I already have stock combat pistols, and high end 1911's, and a P210, X5, Mk. 23, I already have two Wilson Combat Berettas, etc.

I don't pretend any of the work makes a Glock a better pistol, other than the fact that the frame work really makes me enjoy shooting them more. I will say that, for me, I do notice an appreciable increase in precision with the frame work, both in slow fire and at full speed in a training class.

Anyway, that's my ramblings on my custom Glock experiences. They're great fun, but there are literally 20 other pistols I'd own before I went and blew 2 grand on a Glock.

Oh, and as others have stated, if you need to rely on your pistol to save your ass, skip the fancy flat triggers and high speed plungers and TiN coated barrels.

My G19 runs just as well as a stock G19, because

a) internally, it's 100% stock

b) I didn't overdo the slide work, and drastically change the slide mass

I'd rely on that particular one.

The two G17's... no. I spent a lot of money to make them "worse" in that regard. I've had a couple of minor issues due to spring choices, or trigger choices, things like that. Those two pistols are "toys", nothing more. Neither one of them will ever ride in my holster or sit on my night stand at night.

I doubt I'll be customizing my Glocks. Other than sights I really don't see the point. They're Glocks and one of the key points of the design is to eliminate the need for gunsmithing or fooling around with them. I can't see customizing them any more than I could see putting Nill grips on a claw hammer.
