I got to looking one over last night. Optics ready with an RMSc footprint, threaded barrel adapter, good trigger, and two 20rd magazines out of the box. What’s not to like? I picked up a used M&P 5.7 the other day and this is essentially a more svelte version of it with an aluminum slide. Basically, I want a fun suppressor host I can stick a dot on and plink quietly at night under NODs for cheap. I looked over a S&W Victory, but I already have a heavy-ish target .22 pistol in a S&W Model 41. Ruger discontinued the Charger model I wanted and I’m feeling the instant gratification urge on this rather than being willing to piece together a short suppressed Charger right now. Maybe I’ll do this and then just build something up off integrally suppressed 10/22 barrel later. Anyway, does anyone have a 22X and want to weigh in? I’ll post back later with my decision I guess. This message has been edited. My lgs has one for 399. If it was 299 I would own it already. I would like a range report please.

Yeah, I wish it were a little cheaper also, but I can tolerate $400 I think. What I really wanted was a TX22 for the FRT I was gifted, but so is everyone else lol. If I get it, I’ll be out to the desert with it sometime this week to put both it and the 5.7 through the paces and I’ll definitely report back. I need to grab a cheap RMSc optic or two, also. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

I have one and like it a lot. Shot it unsuppressed and with my DA Mask. Fed and fired CCI min mag and subsonic, except for one round that didn’t go off, although the rim was struck. Only issues were I thought the trigger was kind of meh, and I prefer non-blacked out rear sights. Also, had a lot of trouble loading the last round in the mags, even with the loader. Kind of hard to choose between the 22x, my Gen 2 TX22, and my Sig P322 (the second one, which actually works, instead of the early jamomatic POS that I bought when they first came out). One thing I do like on the TX22 is that the barrel itself is threaded 1/2x28, and doesn’t need a thread on adapter like the 22X and P322. FRT isn’t a consideration for me since they are illegal in FL.

I have one also. Great little gun. Ive put well over 1000 rounds so far without any issues. Mix bag of ammo, fired everything. I even went over 500 rounds without cleaning a couple times and still she chugged along. Fun little reliable gun. What’s not to like? "No more 'I have to go to the bathroom'. I was going to, but my price out the door was almost $460 with tax. I had to think it over. Looked around town a bit, I'm not seeing better prices, and I'm not sure there's anything else that quite as neatly checks all the same boxes. Might just relent tomorrow and bring one home. I also have the option of paying $300 for a used TX22, but that one doesn't come with the high cap mags, nor is it optics ready. For my uses, I'm more concerned with putting a dot on it and shooting suppressed with semi-auto, but it may be worth it to pick it up, have some fun with it with the FRT I have, then try and flip it locally. I dunno. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

Last Friday, I made it out to the desert with some friends and tried out both of these guys for the first time. I am really liking the 22X. It ate close to 300 rounds that night, all suppressed. The combo of this fun with this can is incredibly pleasant to shoot. It was subsonic and hearing safe with all ammo tested, and very, very quiet. The loudest part of it was the prominent “PINGK! PINGK!” Of the slide cycling, which had a very Hollywood foley artist feel to it that made me chuckle. The gun requires some break in. It locked open on every round for the first five or six magazines, so I started riding the slide release, and then it ran fine. Somewhere around the tenth magazine, I decided to see if it was still doing it and let off the slide release and it was cycling properly. It did, however, lock open with the final round of the magazine 100% of the time, whether they were loaded to 19 or 20, which just required hitting the slide release a final time. I wasn’t mad about it. I figure 20rd .22 magazines is kind of uncharted waters. I can get a 20th round in them, but it’s a bitch to do, and requires slapping the magazine around to make sure all the rounds are seated in the proper stack and finagling that ladt round in. I’m gonna fully load both and let them sit for a week, then hit the inside and follower with some dry film teflon lube spray before the next range trip. Oh, let’s talk about the sights. You have to remove the rear sight to get the RMSc/K footprint sight on, and then you’ll notice while you’re digging around in there that the front sight is retained with a loose c clamp and wishful thinking. I noticed mine vaporized during the night shoot when I took these pictures. You’ve been warned. The Osight was a pleasant surprise. Being cheaper than a Holosun, I didn’t expect the dot to be rounder and more defined, but it is to my eyes on both the models I stuck on these M&P's (Osight K on the 22X and Osight SE on the 5.7). The glass is also clearer and noticeably untinted, and it came with more and better screws. I recommend them so far, but I guess we’ll see what the durability is like in the long run. For they very few of you for whom this is applicable, the light transmission and clarity with NODs is excellent with both. I am very pleased so far. All this shit is made of Chinese components, but final assembly and QC is purportedly here in Buckeye, so at least I'm supporting the local economy with my purchases. So far, for a dedicated optic and suppressor host plinker, this is a resounding win in my book. How accurate is it? Don't know, didn't buy it for that, I have a S&W Model 41. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

Nice. I just picked mine up the other day. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Disabled combat vet

That sight issue disturbs me perhaps more than it should. How hard is it to dovetail a sight appropriately? The C clamp arrangement obviously isn’t great.

Yeah, if anything, they could’ve just a Glock front sight. Idiotic. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

So I have a M&P 22 compact. To me it feels like about 90% the size of an M&P 9mm. Does that approximate what you felt with the 22X or did the match the frames with the bigger M&Ps? ___________________________________________ Life Member NRA & Washington Arms Collectors Mistake not my current state of joshing gentle peevishness for the awesome and terrible majesty of the towering seas of ire that are themselves the milquetoast shallows fringing my vast oceans of wrath. The 22X is a very different animal than the M&P 22 Compact. It’s more akin to the M&P 5.7 than the M&P 2.0 models, and in fact, that’s a factor for my buying it, having picked up the 5.7 a week prior and wanting a .22 version of that I could also throw my can on. The grip of the 22X is very svelte, even compared to the M&P 22 Compact. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.
