I want to get an RMR equipped Glock. I currently carry a G19, and also have an MOS G19. I want to go the milled route as opposed to the MOS in order to get the optic a little lower and better supported. Should I go with another 19? Or go fullsize with a 17? I don't really expect to be carrying the RMR equipped gun, but who knows what the future holds. So would you go with the 19 for commonality, or the 17 for the full size handling...what about the 19X?

I don't use the optics on pistols and they seem counter productive to me (making something designed to be small bulkier, more delicate, and larger), but to each his own. With that in mind, it seems that putting an optic on top of the 19X is definitely going the wrong way.

I have a G34 that was milled for a RMR and a G19 MOS. I can’t tell much difference in the two as far as security and depth of cut. Have you run your G19 MOS with the RMR? A set of suppressor sights and you should be good to go? Sigs, HKs, 1911s, Berettas, Glocks and SW revolvers

Why? It has the higher capacity of the 17 and the optic makes sight-radius moot. Seems like a great range or competition or HD combo to me... “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

The 19X is good for a holstered weapon in a vehicle, or other situations when grip length isn't the issue, but muzzle length is. Adding the optic on top of the 19X, when one is trying to compact it, and making it bulkier with expanding on top of the slide, seems counterproductive, to me.

^^^^ Only if you're gonna carry it, and the OP said he probably wouldn't ![]() ![]() It is all about "mission driving the gear train". Shorter slide is faster out of the holster and the optic makes sight radius moot while giving 17rd capacity. I'd love that setup for a duty, competition, HD, or range gun. CCW no, a regular 19 makes more sense. The RMR doesn't really make the gun harder to conceal anyway... “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

I completely agree with this. It's particularly true with any holster that cants the gun forward to any degree.

My humble opinion is the Gen5 G17.

I went the MOS route but chose a 17 over a 19. I wanted mine only as a range toy. For serious work, I’m not ready for an RMR and usually choose a 19 or 26.

OK here's what I've learned in now about 50K rounds on RMR guns. The difference between a milled slide and an MOS gun is irrelevant. And the MOS gun has the potential of being more viable if something new appears to knock the RMR off its current best of class. There is no difference in optic support in any way that means anything between the two methods of mounting. Barrel length for an optic gun means very little. I grew up using 17L's and 34's for competing but once I switched to optics I gradually went the other way from 34 to 17 to 19 as it makes no difference. However the grip does so I am currently shooting the 2018 season using a milled 19x. As they say best of both worlds. But I'm with jljones, the best glock at the moment on the planet overall is a G5 17. But having said all that. You have a G19MOS. just get an RMR (type 2 06 or 07) and go shoot the thing. Why on earth would you want something else. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

For me: - Gen5 - full size grip - G17, G19X, G34...in that order. I got dem small hands but the G19 G5 doesn't really appeal to me like past generations have. My Gen2 already has it covered, the ambi slide stop and the shorter LOP of the Gen5 really doesn't seem to matter much. HOWEVER, when I pick the full size Gen5 the darn things just feels right. So any of those with the full size grip would be what I'd use a basis for a reflex sighted pistol.

You already use a 19 so get a G5 19 milled. Super simple. For ME: DA/SA=Sig 9mm or HK P30 LEM 9 Striker fired= Glock 9mm If it's a .45= 1911 Suppressed= HK in .45 I like anything in 10mm
