Did a search and everything is 6yo or older. In 2026 who makes a good ankle holster for a Ruger LCR and G43? My new job that sells guns doesn't allow employees to conceal carry but I refuse to not be armed.

I’ve been a long time user of ankle rigs. Until recently, that was my primary mode of discreet carry for at work. The best of the best was always the Alessi. You can still get the exact same style from Ritchie - their turnaround times have also been decent over the last few years. I own both Alessi and Ritchie ankle rigs for my J Frames, Glock 43, Glock 26 and P365.

Galco Ankle Glove. Not the "Ankle Lite". The "Ankle Glove". I carried a G26 in one for 9 years in a similar situation to what you describe. Never got made, holster was comfortable, and still works. And the G26 isn't a small gun.

Look at either Galco or DeSantis.

If comfort is important, the Galco Ankle Glove.

I will second the Ritchie ankle rig. First class quality. I know the guy personally and he is a consummate craftsman

Back in the Alessi days, you could take a damaged holster to the shop, walk in they would drop what they were doing to repair it. Skip Ritchie does the same.

I have a Galco Cop that I use with my PM9 or 365 when I am wearing slacks but I prefer to pocket carry and have for about twenty years

I don't think I've ever been to a gun shop in TX where every employee wasn't at least open carrying something.

What about pocket carry? You can get to that LCR or Glock a whole lot more surreptitiously and faster than an ankle rig.

May have to go down to a smaller gun like a G42/LCP/Kahr P380/PM9 but at least you will still be armed.

I carried a J frame in a DeSantis model 62 for most of my law enforcement career. I still carry the J frame in that holster as a a backup in retirement. It's faster to get to than the gun on the belt when seated in a vehicle.

Doesn't really matter.

It’s a liability problem for the store and some insurance carriers won’t provide coverage if an employee shoots someone.

My LGS allows employees to carry but they have to buy their own liability insurance.

No. Customers are allowed to conceal or open carry.

I have carried a BUG in an ankle rig for 15 years on patrol. Countless fights, foot pursuits, climbing fences, running up or down stairs, getting in and out of patrol cars a million and one times, and never had an issue with my DeSantis Apache holster. I have two, and just retired my first one about 6 months ago. It's still fine, but I got a good deal on a new one and the padding seemed to be getting thin on the old one, so I swapped them out.

The only problem I had was when I tried to carry the P365. It was a little heavier than my P-238 and after a lengthy foot pursuit through deep snow, the gun had moved to my shin, rotating about 45 degrees. The gun was still secure. I switched back to the P238 and carried that until I recently got the Bodyguard 2.0. The P238 was retired and sold.

Anyway, two thumbs up for the Apache.
