I just came across a Sig 230 in Stainless steel, made in Germany. It looks good feels good, can find nothing wrong with it and it comes with two magazines. I would appreciate your thoughts.

Does it have walnut grips? Mine did, they are nice guns, love the looks of them. but they are heavy for their size just too many other options if you plan on carrying it. I didnt shoot it very well.

I have a P230 SL. I purchased it new and have not fired it I did buy 1 extra magazine. STUPID me i cant find the owners manual and test target. I did manage to shoot my friends. We bought them together. I love the look, build quality. I cant shoot it for shit. It ate everything we fed it, barely any felt recoil. To answer your question you would have dig deep into your pocket to buy mine. Good luck. My inability to shoot it well is not the gun it is shooter. I have hands like a baseball glove. ______________________________ " Formally known as GotDogs "

Neat guns. My P230 had the worst DA pull (even Robert Burke said it was truly horrible), but it was such a neat little gun I sent it to Robert for some work. It came back with a much improved DA pull, a very good SA pull, and less over-travel. Was it worth buying and then having the trigger work done? I dunnah. Do I like it, because it is a sleek, beautifully designed, very accurate piece of Made In Germany SIGness? Absolutely. ________________ tempus edax rerum

Beautiful gun. Would love to have one, but... Would never carry it. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones

I have a blued one believed to be possibly unfired since factory and a stainless one that I've shot a good bit. For me it is a very pleasant gun to shoot and has great lines. Some might think of it as a refined version of the PPK. I think by now you can see my recommendation is if the price seems good, to buy it. I've been having a hard time resisting a members super clean P232 stainless in the classifieds here. This message has been edited. Last edited by: RR,

This one is stainless with rubber grips. Comes with four magazines and from what I hear has only been shot 5 times, spent the rest of her life in a closet!! Will pick her up today. Dry fired her in the store, the DA trigger pull is real smooth and the single action is as smooth as any German made Sig, smooth, no back lash and delightfully crisp. I really wish American Sigs would show the same quality trigger, but maybe that is just too much to ask! I thank you for your thoughts.

I would suggest staying with the rubber grips, otherwise they have a tendency to bite.

I acquired a mint 1985 blued model that I just love. Purchased right here in the Classifieds. It is classic SIGness. I do carry it occasionally, in a Garrett Industries OWB holster. Never would consider pocket carry due to its weight. Mine shoots a nice tight pattern at 7 yards. When in doubt, mumble

Congrats on a nice find ! I have a couple 230's and 7 or 8 232's including a NIB 232 in 7.65 which is the only one I've ever seen. I've been carrying one for years and shoot them every week, for me it's a natural pointer. I had one "Robared" 3-4 years ago and it came back with some feed problems so I sent it to Robert Burke, I carry it 90% of the time, it's simply amazing !

Congratulations on finding a P230SL! I love mine and in the 1990s I carried it. It is a beautiful blowback pistol. Infrequently do I carry it but I do take it out for a range exercise and cleaning more than once per year. One draw-back; without a shooting glove, it bites the web of my hand between the thumb and forefinger. I will get rid of it in my will to my children, not otherwise.

Ed, is that P230 .380 or .32? Blow-back .380s have a damned sharp recoil. Also, some folks suffer slide bite from the P230. Pretty little pistol though. Maybe all of the SL models are .380. Serious about crackers

In almost every thread I've read about the 230/232's there is a mention of slide-bite. I've never been bit. My son, who has the same skinny hand and fingers as me gets bit regularly shooting the one I gave him. I must not grip as high as the boy or others, don't know and have no answer.

Was my BUG for years. The best .380 made, IMHO. Second runner up is the Beretta 80 series. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Awesome pistols. But, they’re outdated. There’s smaller, lighter, higher capacity, more powerful with less recoil options these days. I’ve always longed after one but never had a purpose aside from range toy. Some PD turn ins showed up a couple years ago and I couldn’t resist. Love it, but again it’s just something for the range. The nice thing about the stainless is it’s easy to clean up scratches and stuff. Pretty but completely "meh" IMO. Owned a KF for several years and don't miss it at all.

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do. |
Range master at a local sheriffs dept told me once that 230s were issued to many of the command staff for use while in suits. Seems that many had problems with limp wristing them. I have one, only gun that I ever limp wristed. My wife never had any problem although she didn't shoot it very much. Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

I picked up mine today, it is a 380, first round at 60 yards was a dead center bulls eye, and she bit my hand in gratitude. I paid $450 and she came with 4 magazines and had not been shot much. Fits in a used Galco #206B shoulder holster perfectly, so does my old Colt P03 which is a 32. The ammo I shot was some Browning BXP "Personal Defense x point stuff". Her trigger is sweet, she feels good but would not want to shoot her all day! The rubber grips feel good, but get slick with blood very quickly!! I thank you for your responses, they were right on the money!!

60 yards dead center bulls eye, is that a typo? Someone I worked for once used to carry a 232 and I always liked it and it had a great feel, but it was big and heavy for .380.

It's all part of the adventure... |
Don’t overthink it — just buy it and enjoy it! I have a 232SL that I really like a lot; I think they’re one of the sexiest guns made.
