No, you're absolutely right, I was wrong. It IS a decocker... apparently from the "F" models on the lever functions as a decocker as well as a safety, which is not the case with my older BB model.

You too? My 92X Compact RDO was supposed to come with one as well. I filled out the form but never got a response, and never got the plate. No huge loss, as the design of the factory plates is ridiculously huge, but it would have been nice to have handy if I ever wanted to try a dot on the gun. An email that I sent Beretta about another issue never got answered, either...so far not terribly impressed with their customer support. I like the gun, though.

Yikes, I’ll stick to these. They never see any use but I can’t imagine getting rid of them. One of the most beautiful pistol designs in my opinion.

I gave up trying to get the free on for my M9A4 so I bought one. Beretta cancelled my order and refunded my money a week later.

Eh, I'm actually interested in this gun.

In fact, the only two handguns that are really on my interest list are an LTT 92 and this. I was going to grab one of the surplus Israeli guns that have been dribbling in, but have always been too slow.

Don't think I'd carry this gun, but it could be fun to have.

I see that you did the same as me, and replaced the narrow-slot grip screws with Allen screws. These narrow-slot screws are one of the hallmarks of these older Berettas and I've never found a proper screwdriver for them. I didn't want to bugger them up so I put them away.

A 25oz .380. Hmm… thank god for technology and progress. I’ll stick with my P365.

+1 the classic cheetahs among the finest made and prettiest pistols, I too have a few , they are only barely surpassed by a Sig P230SL.

Re the 80X or whatever they call it , they lost me with the rail

Definitely. I need to get a shot of the P230SL & a Cheetah together.

If I were in charge at Beretta, I'd have the 84 FS brought back in the US in the duotone finish and walnut grips of photoman's model 86 and call it a day.

Won't be getting any at Dick's.

So you’re saying no BOXes in Dick’s.

I do like this in that
1) It is new and metal, not plastic. Notice the Henry Homesteader. (Though plastic is on my hip as I write)
2) It is new and TDA not striker-fired (though a striker is on my hip as I write).
3) Maybe it will lead to one in 22.

I would consider getting one of those BOX pistols once the new gun price rape phase is over.

When I bought that 86 it had some finish issues so I decided to send it to CCR for refinishing and thought a two time would be neat. I’m sure it’s not everyone’s thing but I was pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks for the info photoman; the 86 looks great. I have a SIG and an FN in duotone, but polymer framed. Good wood is a thing of beauty.

When you start carrying your new Cheetah 80X, you'll probably want one of these on your companion Gucci carbine:

https://www.thetruthaboutguns....he-new-priapus-grip/

"From Black Collar Arms . . .

The perfect hybrid of precision rifle and tactical, the Black Collar Arms Priapus Grip delivers the hand positioning, shape, and control of a PRS-style grip
"At launch, laser-cut sand texture grip tape panels are available in Black, Gray, OD Green, and Brown, as well as rubber pebble texture in Black. These grip tape panels are easily applied by the end user and are durable and reliable, yet remove cleanly should you want to swap them out."

The rubber pebble texture sounds good but maybe 'ribbed' ones will come along, too.

OK, so, Priapus is the Greek god of fertility and in paintings and sculpture, he is portrayed as having a huge beyond huge cock, which is permanently erect. And were supposed to grab onto this grip, so named?

Is somebody kidding us?
