Both Dicks serving the greater Quad City metropolitan area are out of the gun and gun accessories business. Safety, Situational Awareness and proficiency. Neck Ties, Hats and ammo brass, Never ,ever touch'em w/o asking first

Thank you Very little |
Based on the government the people of IL instituted I'll be surprised if you don't see a large percentage of gun stores disappear all together.

Probably company wide. My local one eliminated them too

Stopped considering Dick's for any firearm needs over 10+ years ago. Considering all that they've done and 'proclaimed' over that time period (Sandy Hook & Miami), they are not a resource for the shooting sports. This was inevitable, they've been moving away from shooting sports with the closing and rebranding of their Field & Stream stores into Public Lands stores and their new mega-sport shops called House of Sport. I refuse to shop at any of those locations.

We had a sporting goods store in our area called Gaylans and they were great. Dicks bought them out and it went to shit. I won't ever buy anything from Dicks. I'll stick with R.E.I. I don't care about their politics. R.E.I. has always been true and never sold firearms. It's the same with Walmart vs. Target. Walmart sold firearms in order to sell the accessories which are the high margin items. They when it was no longer politically convenient they dropped the firearms and kept the high margin accessories. I won't shop at Walmart either. Honestly, chain stores getting out of the firearms business only helps gun owners.

Quite frankly, does anyone really shop at Dicks? They did all that pandering, their stocks tanked and never recovered, massive layoffs and they doubled down. Good for them being stuck on stupid. The whole “never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake” bit.....

I thought they all got out of it years ago. I had no idea some of them still sold any gun related items. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Semi-related. Noticed that the local Academy stores have a much smaller handgun selection & have pretty much no semi-auto rifles, Only shotguns & bolt rifles. The Enemy's gate is down.

I used to shop at Gaylans all the time when I lived in Columbus, OH. Then when I relocated to Richmond, VA I continued to shop there. They used to be a very impressive store on all items not just fishing/ammo/guns. Then Dicks bought them.... I still remember the exact location in the display case of the Colt Python with a 2.5 inch barrel that was on clearance. I didn't have the money at the time to buy it and it still haunts me. That is one of the fond memories I have of the Columbus OH Galyan's.

Ignored facts still exist |
Dicks got rid of all guns and ammo a couple of years ago here. It was a good place to find .22 LR during the ammo shortages of the Obama years. but since they stopped selling guns and ammo, I don't step foot in there. .

Drill Here, Drill Now |
Aptly named store. Haven't been there in years since they got all woke (I think 2018). Between the Internet and Academy Sports being better, I'm always shocked the nearest Dick's is still open. We had at least one Dick's close here, and maybe two. I don't shop there.

Galyan's....that's nearly 20 years ago. Like Cabela's, they over extended themselves. Bass Pro with their high-margin, shitty house brand, swooped-in and bailed-out the Cabela stakeholders with a buyout. Trying to create these over-the-top, mega-format, destination stores is just a money-looser. Scheel's looks to have possibly found the sweet-spot their handful of big stores.

Altitude Minimum |
I went into the new Dicks in Destin sometime before Christmas. A friend of mine owns the shopping center and I was just going to look at the building. They had a bunch of golf stuff, some fishing stuff and weight training stuff. Mostly though, just clothes and shoes. I was in there maybe 6 or seven minutes at the most.

Caught in a loop |
I was at my local Academy yesterday - the shooting accessories and gun racks were barren. Almost like they were selling everything off or something. Haven't seen semi autos outside of 10/22's there in a hot minute (been at least 4-5 years). I think after one of the big shootings or something they "quietly" yanked them off the shelves for the most part and just haven't put them back.
