I did a search and it has been mentioned here before but since those threads were about other topics and they are older, I thought I'd post a new one.

You know how youtube has a column of suggested videos? Well I stumbled onto a video about the Gyrojet gun. How'd I miss this one? Anyway I thought I'd share the video. Pretty interesting.

I remember reading about them back in the day.
Those things you'd see in the good old Gun Digest but never on the street.

they made those in San Ramon, CA just up the hi way from me. My local shop has one in their display case with a nice wooden case. not for sale. Good luck getting ammo.

Neat video. Learned a bit of something early this morning. Not sure how much will stick, but still learned something, I think.

As a young tyke, I vaguely recall Dad, Gramps and my Uncle talking about these for a spell, when we'd go out to the 'farm' to do some plinking, barbecuing and general downtime fun stuff. Until now I didn't know it was called 'Gyrojet'. Good to finally put a name to it, I suppose.

I remember reading that the early versions had three nozzles and weren't super accurate. They also ran into problems with the projectile being larger than 1/2 inch. Had to redesign the whole thing to be smaller and added a fourth nozzle to the mix while doing so.

There are a few of them still around if you have a winning scratch-off ticket.

Interestingly, it gained speed as it travelled and left the chamber empty for the next round. A side effect is that it may be the only firearm you could disable by sticking your pinky into the barrel as it was fired.

I watched that video the other day, because my local gun store has a gun for sale. I am tempted to buy it.

Curator at NRA Museum in Fairfax, VA let me see a Gyrojet bullet. Quite interesting. The musuem and the Gyrojet gun and the Dardick among many other treasures.

Nope. I can't imagine that reloading the brass would be easy.
