I bought this Commander size 1911 9mm with the intention of using it as a project. I assumed it would give me another opportunity to gain experience working on 1911s.I ordered a very basic model so that I could afford to install a few key items and do some "buffing and shining". My intention was to casually work on it and probably sell it or trade it off for something else down the road. I did something similar with a Rock Island 1911 45 acp. a while back and very much enjoyed my time. Well I picked up the Girsan yesterday and before leaving the range, put a few rounds through it just to make sure the darned thing would even go bang. I am very impressed! The gun is well made, nice fit , very nice trigger, accurate and quite enjoyable to shoot ! My only disappointment is that there is really very little ( almost nothing ) for me to do to it. Out of the box, it fed 115 grain range ammo 100% and I had some Norma 65 grain frangible around and it ate that 100% also !! The Turks ( Girsan ) seem to know how to make a 1911. This isn't a project gun, it's a shooter right out of the box. I am very impressed. I need to buy a holster and more mags...this is a keeper !! FYI..

Although I am not really sure why, I bought a Girsan Witness2311 Match X,( the comped model ), because it looked neat and seemed to have good reviews. I was actually looking for a MAC at a local show but this one caught my eye and wanted to give it a shot. Haven't fired it yet but the thing feels like it is sliding on ball bearings. It functions/loads very smoothly. Girsan and similar region manufactured pistols, make some nice replicas/clones for the money.
I too have the compact Girsan Hi Power clone. It was cheap. 419 I believe and it has been perfect. I removed the mag safety and bought a holster. My trigger is fine for a duty style gun, certainly as good as my actual Hi Power. Girsan stuff is pretty rock solid.

I've got the Hi-Power and two Beretta 380 versions. The model 86v knock off is pretty cool, IIRC the original was an 8 rounder but this one is 14. Both accept mags from the originals.
