I see no reason why, after taking the grips off and the cylinder out, you couldn't put the gun in your dishwasher. It has hot soapy water and a hot air dry afterwards.

I've heard this, but the one time I tried it, the pistol came out heavily coated in rust. I had to start from scratch with soapy water and an intense amount of scrubbing. I have no idea why it didn't work for me.

I’ve for years only used Thompson Contender’s No. 13 natural cleaning solution with very hot water and Thompson’s bore butter for cleaning/lube. My barrel is well seasoned after all this time and shots accurately and is very easy to clean. There are a lot of options out there but I approached mine like a Dutch oven and after 17 years, I’m still going strong without problems.
