A “pre-27” that I recently sold / traded my way into after thinking I was “done” with Smiths of this barrel-length. The prior owner sent this one to Nelson Ford for a tune-up, and it really shows. An online acquaintance contacted me about some period-correct factory Magnas, which it now wears along with a Tyler T-Grip. I’ve really come to like this grip-combo over a handful of revolvers I’ve tried it on, previously with the otherwise excellent grip adapter from BK Grips. This is my first Tyler adapter. I feel like a Hank Sloan-style holster may be in the works for me and this gun. In the meantime, the Barranti Summer Classic shown and an older DeSantis Speed Scabbard are working well for it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli." - George Costanza

Gorgeous revolver. I've got a 3 and 1/2" in nickel, made in 1950.

Thank you! I remember you posting a picture of that gun; you mentioned the curved leading-corner of the ejector rod shroud on your gun, a subtle thing I’d never even noticed when compared to later S&Ws. I really like the 3 1/2"s My oldest one is also from 1954. It wears Ivory and a grip adapter ![]() This is not my only 3 1/2" I own several I have become very fond of the 8 shot Registered Magnums that Lew Horton produced from 2005-2007. One of those in blue with the 3 1/2" barrel has become one of my favorite shooters ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------ NRA Benefactor . . . There's something truly special about these vintage 1950's and 60's S&W revolvers. Their classic lines and rich blueing instantly conjures up images of sage gunsmiths in their custom shop - hand-fitting and tuning every part, so that the double action stroke is smooth as butter, the cylinder locks in place like a bank vault, and every shot is deadly accurate.

Good heavens, that's pretty. Best looking DA revolver ever made, IMO. Congrats! --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

Every time I have convinced myself that I don't need a 27 or pre 27 because of my multiple L frames that do the exact same thing, I see a picture like this and just start drooling and trying to figure out where in my budget I can get one. My God, just look at that bluing.
