M-11 Jr has a 220 Carry and 227 full frame in .45; he wants to get something in 9mm as it's a bit expensive to throw lots of .45 during practice sessions (when he can find it). he's looking for something in a 9mm, full frame, hammer that's not Sig priced but reliable enough for lots of practice. And no Glocks as he can't shoot one for $hit. Any suggestions from the Borg? Thanks.

CZ 75.
For the used market, the Ruger P89.

Police trade in P226 or P229. Nearly identical to his P220 and P227 as far as platform, but cheaper to shoot.

Used Beretta 92s can be found reasonably affordably, too, but the controls and grip will differ significantly from his Sigs.

Oh yeah, how could I have forgotten about the Beretta? Eek

These PD trade-ins are almost always in .40. He would have to spend extra money to convert them to 9.

This may be a noobie-type question, but are police trade-ins found in a particular place? Not that it matters, but he's former LE.

Most PD trade-ins end up with large vendors, like AIM and Sea Dee En En. And, they show up with regularity.

Alternative, in a DA/SA plastic
Sig Pro?
More of a compact/P229 size, than a 220/226 size, but can't say I've ever heard anyone disparage a SP.

Many of them are, but if you watch, they can be found in 9mm, especially the P226s. A P229 in 9mm is harder to come by.

Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore is another dealer who frequently gets large batches of police trade-ins.

There are deals out there on Beretta 92's. Google for the 92FS "Police Special". Can be found for under $550, NIB with 3 mags.

If he wants a hammer gun w/ steel frame:
CZ 75B for around $550-600
Jericho 941 for around $500-550
SAR 2000 or P8 for around $450
Tristar S120 for around $400

If he wants a hammer gun w/ aluminum alloy frame:
Beretta 92FS for around $550-600
Arex Zero 1 for around $450-500
Bersa TPR9 for around $400
Girsan Regard for around $400

If he wants a hammer gun w/ polymer frame:
CZ P-09 for around $450-500
Sig Pro SP2022 for around $500
Sar B6 for around $300

Sig P226/229, SP2022, Beretta 92SF/M9, Jericho 941 are often found as LE/mil trade-ins if you want to go that route. Check GT Distributors.

I think used Sig P6s can still be found for around $500.

I'd go with the CZ or the Sig p229... never shot a CZ but have only heard good things... have shot a P229 but only in a force on force class with fragable ammo... but I hit the guys I was aiming at.

I would concur that a CZ, perhaps a P-07 Duty, great and underrated gun, would be a great choice. The manual of arms as a de-cocker is very similar.

I would also suggest a Beretta PX-4 Storm believe it or not. I always thought it was the ugly duckling of the Beretta world, though the M-9s have never appealed to me, however, I shot a friend's PX-4 storm a few years ago and was very surprised. It fits the hand well, had a great DA/SA out of the box, and the recoil was mild, not that 9mm is ever really bad. It would be a pussy cat for M-11 Jr., if he's used to .45 ACP. I always keep an eye out for a lightly used PX-4 in 9mm, but then if I get one, then there's the minimum 10 mags, another holster, better sights, and the Langdon parts, and oh.. my disease will never be cured.

Good luck!

Get a Jericho 941 RS, my nephew recently got this deal and its an amazing firearm.

https://www.familyfirearms.com...-jericho-9mm-j941rs9

If you email for price at that website it is only $439 + $19 shipping for $465 shipped + FFL transfer fee from the FFL you use.

its a upgraded clone of the CZ75 for way cheaper, italian internals, all steel, Cold Hammer Forged CrMoV Barrel, 3.9 inch barrel (P229/Glock 19 barrel length), has full frame (16 round flush fit magazines)

The Jericho 941 RS has both decocker and safety pretty similar to how a beretta safety/decocker works, 941 R version is decocker only, and the regular 941 is safety only.
