Hello from down under! A while ago I pruchased a W.German-made P226 in 9mm. This particular pistol, serial number U 510 55X, came with an atypical takedown lever and Meprolight Trudot night sights. I have not been able to find any information on this particular take down lever design and was hoping to satisfy my curiosity about it (and maybe give it to someone who appreciates this novelty more than I). Some further information, according to the seller, the pistol was formerly used by Australia's Victorian Police "SOG". The takedown lever vaguely resembles that of the Browning Hi Power's, namely the stud protruding out of the right side of the frame. Aside from the two non-standard parts, the rest of the pistol is standard. According to the seller, this pistol was supplied in this configuration from the factory. Judging by the wear patterns on the sights and the take down lever, I am inclined to believe that claim. I have since replaced these parts with typical P226 parts to restore the pistol to the typical P226 form. Note: The pistol originally came with the standard 117m barrel. However, to comply with minimum barrel length laws, a threaded barrel has been installed to make it legal for target shooting.

It kinda looks like an activation switch to a laser guide rod, but not quite.

My guess: It may be part of a security holster system. The holster has a track or recess built into it that makes it snatch resistant and the pin mates into this. Maybe. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

At first I was thinking about a Lasermax lever from the first pic. YooperSigs suggestion would make more sense from the additional photos. Could be either for a holster or limiting access during storage by mechanical means. Welcome to the forum!

Do you have a picture of what the holster might have looked like? Perhaps even the specific model? The timeframe would have been from the mid 1990s. This particular pistol is roughly from 1994 if I recall correctly.

If you start an internet search for "German Police Holsters" you will see a wide variety of holsters that Police over there use/used. And you can go further by searching other Euro countries too. Given the popularity of the 226, you may have your work cut out for you. And its just a guess what the odd takedown lever is actually used for. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

That takedown lever was part of the setup for those ancient Surefire Laser Products weapon lights. I think the SIG-specific models were the 332 and 632. That protruding stud served as a mounting point.

This explaination is very convincing, I have not heard of this before. Thank you for sharing it with me!

You can see the hole for the mounting stud in the upper left hand corner of the photo (second link in my post).

That’s the one. Before the SIG rail in the mid-2000s, Surefire had a number of creative mounting solutions, the one in your link being the first.

Everyone else's comments regarding it being the Surefire TDL are correct. One additional verification point would be to see if there is a wear spot or dimple on the lower area of the front face of the trigger guard. Those lights were somewhat loose and had a tension screw that would wear on the trigger guard in that spot.

I just checked, there indeed is quite a prominent wear spot/dimple on the lower front face of the trigger guard. This confirms it.

With the restriction for newer members re access to profiles, so no email address is easily available, these guys don't have many choices. What would you suggest for a situation like this? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים
