I am pretty sure I know the answer, but I just want to be 100% as I have a P229 ASE 9mm coming to me...it uses the 229-1 mags, correct? I have a bunch of 228/229 mags, but want to make sure I have a few of the correct ones for carry purposes. Thanks "No more 'I have to go to the bathroom'. There is no bathroom!!"

Yes. 229-1 is correct for the gun. But, the old P229(9)/P228 mag works in it, also. Q

Thanks. I have heard that the old mags will work but they "rattle" and are loose, so some would not trust them reliably for self-defense purposes. Anyway, any excuse to add more mags to the stable is fine by me. "No more 'I have to go to the bathroom'. There is no bathroom!!"

That is correct. But in about 5k of rounds I’ve never had a malfunction at the range using the older rattling mags with fmj range ammo. I would be interested in hearing if anyone else has?
